Omega 1950s Ref. 2639 Authenticity Check

Hey guys,
I was looking online and came across what seems to be a wonderful Omega vintage watch that caught my eye the second I saw it (I'll add photos below). I'm reaching out and was wondering if anyone could share their expertise on finding out if this watch is real or not. From what I can tell, it seems to be real; however, some things seem off:

  • Is listed as an Omega reference 2639; however, the inside of the caseback states the numbers 2487-3
  • The Omega logo looks more skinny and wider than what I think is real (Says online that Omega has had many variations of the logo, so it could still be real)
  • Dealer says that it has been serviced, but doesn't have any results to back it up
  • Also says that he "doesn't think" that the dial has been restored
  • Is a private dealer from Italy

If anyone could help, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Well, @omegadonny, welcome to the forum.

You’re a new member and you’ve studied the photos, so well done,
You’ve noticed a discrepancy with the caseback, well done,
You’ve contacted the seller, very well done,
and you’ve joined OF to ask about the condition of the watch BEFORE buying it. Excellent!

You’ve done pretty much everything right and now you have to walk away from the watch and hang on to your money while you look for a watch that hasn’t been redialled and that’s sold by a seller who’s going to be up front with you (as in you need to ‘buy’ the seller as well as the watch).

Keep looking.

Also running very slow. Regulator arm pushed right off the bridge.

Take a pass

Dial is definitely refurbished, hands probably original, certainly date appropriate, case movement both ok

100% redial. And I don't think any self-respecting watchmaker would leave the regulator hanging in the wind like that if it had been serviced.

Wait for a nice original one to come up and buy the seller.
