Omega Constellation 2852: Redial & Authenticity Check

Hi there,

I am a Newcomer to vintage Omegas. Last week, I saw this beautiful Constellation, at a clockmakers Shop here in Hamburg. He assured me that it was authentic, and in the inside it looked very well preserved. I bought it for 2100€. When I saw it at day light, I became suspicious because of the application of the omega logos. Also the Omega 2852 (wich is imprinted inside the casing) has a different Dial. So I went back to the guy, and he said that he knows not of these things and insisted on the authenticity. I took my money back.

Was that the right decision or is it just a version you can't find anywhere. Your advice is greatly appreciated!

That’s an extremely wonky and badly repainted black dial.

Most black dials are refinished but this one is worse than the majority of them.

Also a weird choice of a gold Seamaster crown and wrong hands that are too long and probably also off a Seamaster or something.

Overall it’s a pretty badly put together watch and not worth half the asking price.

Thank you very much for that. I will look much closer the next time. 🙃
