Omega 176.004 Tropical Big Blue

This post is not going to be for everyone but I had this tropical Big Blue dial and it almost evenly faded to brass (the darker blob in the Center of the dial is the reflection of my iPhone, it was difficult to get a good shot showing the true tones without getting a reflection) while all the white lettering remained perfectly intact. Big Blue cases are next to impossible to find and I don’t really like this dial in a ss case like some in my collection so I went full Franken.

What started with a tropical dial then turned into collecting a set of hands, servicing an old cal. 1040, picking up a gold 176.007 case, crystal and a blue tachy. I went with the blue tachy to give a nod to its original styling. And if I was going all in I thought I mind as well go with a gold shark mesh bracelet to keep with the divers vibe.

I know this watch won’t be for everyone but it’s ment to be a sporty fun casual watch I can rock with a crazy set of sneakers while I’m out on a patio having drinks with friends. I’ve always loved the 176.007 pillow case for being low profile while still screaming vintage. Going all gold just kind of helps this tropical dial look like it belongs.

It was a fun little project.
