Omega 165.024 Seamaster 300 depth rating?

Was the 1960s Seamaster 300 only rated to a depth of 200 meters?

Did the "300" in the name "Seamaster 300" signify anything? Or was it just an arbitrary number?

Are the modern Watchco Seamaster 300s (assuming they have new gaskets) capable of achieving the original depth rating?
