The 1974 dials have short a short S as well that looks completely different than the mid '90s short S.

Whoops! That got crossed because I was talking about the OP's watch with my original comment, since the Chrono hand is covering the drop -r, rather than being reset to 12. I had seen the mention of the '90s dial before and alluded to this, but missed that it was in reference to a different watch.
