Omega 1152 Question

Hey all! I have what might seem to many to be a very basic/rookie question. Nevertheless, I can’t seem to figure it out!

I just acquired an Omega Speedmaster with an 1152 movement, and it seems to be functioning flawlessly. However, the top and bottom dials have stayed in place (the 12 hour and 30 minute ones). They haven’t moved at all. Is there something wrong with the watch? I wound it up and everything else is functioning. Additionally, in every video I’ve seen of this watch online, the hands on these dials are in the same position… so, how do they work? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

The subdials count the time elapsed, so they don't move unless the chronograph is activated. Is the chronograph activated? The big seconds hand should be moving instead of pointing at 12.

Congratulations on your acquisition! If you're not familiar with a chronograph, your question makes perfect sense. The top pusher starts and halts the time you are measuring as passed; when it is halted you can use the bottom pusher to reset it to zero.

Thank you guys! Thats exactly what was happening. This is my first chronograph, and the seconds hand was not moving while the minutes hand was. Therefore, the chronograph was not activated, explaining the 12 o clock dials!

thank you so much!!

It may take some getting used to! Your 9:00 position subdial is running seconds- I would bet that the chronograph hand matches the 30 minute and 12 hour timers (if there are two different color handsets) in color.
