Hi there, who can help me ID this barnfiend. The Omeag wall/ world clock was found in a Dutch restaurant/cafe called: "The clock". We are curiuos about it's history and how we could identify it's origin. We think it is a rather rare piece. Size 275 cm x 90 cm. Thanks in advance. Marcel
Age wise I'd say it's very late 1950's to mid 1960's, just from the style. But it's huge - so either a custom piece, or something done by Omega for a temporary installation (World's Fair?) that then went to the cafe afterwards? I tend to doubt that this was a regular catalog piece, but that's not based on any specific knowledge.
Thanks, Omega. I just did it again. LOL. But now I noticed my fault in time. Backside is in the pictures attached. Any info is welcome.
Nice piece, I am just questioning the omega badge, it looks out of place like if it was just added. What does it say on the round indicators?
The last scoreboard at Milwaukee County Stadium was made by Omega, and don't forget they supplied everything for Olympic timing multiple times. That they could produce this clock is by no means a surprise. But yes, they are not common.
What a unique and fascinating wall clock... massive in size too. I can't image this was a regular product from Omega, if it was even made by Omega. Maybe someone on this forum will have some information. Does Omega have a historical or vintage clock department, if so, I'd give them a call.
The original (now overpainted) script under 12 on the clock face might have been 2 words, and is too long for the word "Omega", but might not have been a watch brand.
This reminded me of a travel booking office I used to go to back in the 80's. Of course, I wouldn't know for how long it has been hung there on the wall.
