As a vintage watch guy I love the Seamaster 300 165.024. I'm a sucker for sword hands coupled with that beauty of a bezel

I think the OP's question was about the different Seamasters currently available, not ones that were discontinued donkey's years ago.

Hmmm. That's a swell assumption and all but the title clearly reads 'Of all Seamasters out there...'. Since 'all Seamasters' are the operative words and the comparison is the Submariner, the 2254 fits the bill.

I couldn't agree more, the only watch I regret selling is the 2254 I owned.
The operative words are "in catalogue".

I just put my submariner next to my seamaster 300, my new wave dial diver in blue, and my 2254. The 2254 is the closest is size and style IMO

From a purely aesthetic perspective it's the Planet Ocean 2201.50. It's just a gorgeous watch. 😀

I’m fond of this Seamaster 🥰

I don’t think Omega and Rolex play the Mustang / Challenger rivalry

That watch belongs in the sun...

If we had any here, ever, I'd try it myself.

What happened to the bezel?

Is that a vintage one or just a new re-issue that’s already been beat to shit (which I love- that’s what they’re for!)

good on ya, mate!

Hahahaha it’s the trilogy piece - the sunlight in Jellystone might be making it look a bit worse than it really is. The bezel got dinged, but everything else is still pretty new.

Life 😉

Take your pick: https://omegaforums.net/threads/watch-foe-s-post-your-watch-foe-s.26602/

Someday I hope to get a replacement so I can have a mint one in the box. But that’ll probably have to wait until a service since I doubt Omega will send me a replacement bezel.

Wear it and love it. Plenty of spare parts to go around to fix whatever life throws at you. Great watch! My favorite Seamaster of all time (both the original 2913 and Trilogy edition).

Is that meant to be a compliment for a dive watch?

i could say the underestimated Jacques-Yves Cousteau watch developed and tested by Omega and Cousteau, marketed in 1970, and nicknamed the “Ploprof” (PLOngeur PROFessionel). but it is not a daily wearer.

Always wondered why the back of Rolex watches are so plain and boring?
Comfort. I have a Planet Ocean and the large embossed seahorse can be uncomfortable on a standard strap but fine on a nato.

Well, the title says it all and actually to me there is no definitive answer.
So,I wanted to read your opinion on this subject. There are many types of seamasters in omega catalog.
Which one of them in your opinion can best rival the submariner?

Planet Ocean Liquidmetal LE or the 2254.50. The ceramic divers are a great bargain and are ok but they screwed up with the latest generation. On paper it kills the sub with a better movement, ceramic dial and bezel but it looks too much like a dopey swatch with the super white numerals on the bezel. The whole bond motif is always playing second fiddle unless you get into the TT models without white bezel numerals. Old blakes and a few planet oceans come close. There's just never going to be that kind of snob factor Rolex buyers and the general public see in the Sub. That said I think the old lacquered dial in the new SMP would have been way nicer and subtle than the new god-awful wave etching. It's as if the original wave dial was 64-bit and the new dial is 8-bit. I think they tried too hard.

Over the past few years, I've owned a Planet Ocean 42MM with 8500 (232.30.42.21.01.001), Diver 300M 41MM with 2500 (212.30.41.20.03.001), and the Diver 300M 41MM Quartz (2221.80.00). My every day is now the Submariner Date (116610LN). I have kept my 2221.80 as an alternative, but it's been sitting in my safe since getting the Submariner.

IMHO, all of these watches are amazing and you can't go wrong with any of them. It's very subjective and what makes you happy. For me, I would not have known the Submariner made me the happiest unless I had tried the others.
