I kind of have the same opinion. I'm not a real fan of having a Snoopy character on the face of my watch but a lot of people may not be bothered about it.

We will have to see what it looks like, but I am not going to attempt to purchase on hype.

It will have to have to be based on merit.

I can't wait for pictures....Shame Omega is being so tight-lipped lol

I think it's kind of fun they are keeping this under wraps. Kind of like Christmas morning for us grown ups. It's a big part of why I like the hobby. Waiting to see what things look like and then waiting (a reasonable amount of time) to get them. If you could walk into an AD and get a Daytona, 5711, or speedmaster Apollo 13 45th anniversary than the excitement part of the hobby would be lacking.

I want a Snoopy on the face. It keeps the watch fun. All of my other watches are black (FOIS), blue (seamaster from Casino Royale), or white (AP RO 15400). If it weren’t for the Snoopy I’d probably get me my first Rolex and get a crazy color OP41 that was just released.

I'm of the opinion, if one doesn't like the look at first glance that wouldn't change even after seeing the values it now commands. For me the Silver Snoopy is prettier looking at the back than the front.
Yes, I totally agree with you that Snoopy back was much wonderful than the front; same was true with Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedy.

The buzz butt didn't put me off buying that one as it is based on a historical picture and reflects best the achievement showing man, machine and the moon surface/space in one pic. The combination of the gold in the bezel, hour markers and hands works well with the subdial IMHO.

I still feel that it would have been a great dial, had they put back on the front subdial and Butt with Machine and Moon on the back!

The back of the snoopy 45th Ann really is beautiful.

Kind of hoped Omega would put some type of speedmaster watch builder app out there for us to post our best guesses.

I recall mentioning of something special with the movement. Perhaps a nod to something similar to Apollo 8 Dark Side of the Moon?!?!?

I think if people are looking at spending upwards of £7000 on a watch in today’s climate they are well off enough to not be overly hurt by £100 in lost savings interest by placing a deposit.
Well put.

I still remember, what an outcry I read at various fora after 2015 Snoopy came out.

It was a big issue that cartoon character was on the dial. Then so many sentences were written on the dial as if it was a book. And finally a sapphire crystal on top of it, instead of holy haselite glass.

The worst was that it was on some rubber coated strap with silver thread!!

It was finally decreed to be a childish watch, at best.

Rest is history. ..

I remember those threads. I wasn’t one of those people and consider the 45th one of the most beautiful speedys out there. I am glad to have one and have a deposit on the next one. I buy what I like so we will see how the new release will look. I did not like the “eyes on the stars” version so never tried to acquire it in the used market.

I think tastes change over time and as you get more experience into this hobby. When I started, I wasn’t a fan of the ExpII polar. When I finally tried one on at a GTG, it was gorgeous. I never appreciated the simple 3 hander. I always wanted complications. As my watches grew, I realized how much work it is to maintain and set the complicated watches. Now, I really enjoy grabbing my time only watches and appreciate their simplicity.

I wasn’t as in tune in the watch community for prior releases so my perspective is more individualized than a collective thought. In 2003/4 sometime I was in HK visiting my uncle who was into watches. He and I both had opportunity to get an Eyes on the Stars but each passed.

He thought “no way I’d pay this much for a cartoon dog on such a nice watch”. I thought “I cannot afford time pay this much right now for my beloved Snoopy on an amazing watch. Maybe one day...”

I am one of the few oddballs to this release in that I admire the lineage, the history, and the watch...but I am most excited about Snoopy. To be in a position to buy an “expensive” watch now (especially one that is playful and fun, not a safe-dweller) when I couldn’t do so years ago is a gratifying and humbling experience for me. Would love to get this next one but if I don’t, I will still be glad that my watch collecting journey has led me this far.

You are not an oddball. You are a watch enthusiast and don’t need to make excuses for your tastes. That’s the great thing about this hobby. You can love the Konstantin Chaykin Joker as much as a Casio. I hope you are able to finally get your snoopy!

Hello guys,

No deposit requested in Paris either.
Despite that my AD confirmed me that it would be a limited edition.
What to believe lol

I'm sorry if it has already been explained before, but what's the interest for Omega to release a not so limited watch ?
I mean, if the 45th anniversary Snoopy hadn't been that limited, it probably wouldn't have been such a hit.
It's mostly because most of us missed the 45th anniversary that we don't want to miss the 50th one.

For me, if the 50th becomes that common, it won't be as attractive as it was with the previous Snoopy.
But it's just my humble opinion.

Only limited watches are attractive to buy?

Lots of guesses, speculation and hopes on what Omega are going to do with this watch. I also think that there are many who are looking for a repeat of the last Snoopy and hoping to score a big mark-up, not sure that Omega are going to let this happen. In less than 3 weeks we will know.

Omega will release many thousand pieces of this watch, making sure that they get the profit on the sales not the lucky few who got their hands on the last Snoopy watch.

What is the motivation for this question? It sounds like you’re only interested in it for it’s exclusivity.

There are others, like me, who genuinely like it for Snoopy and would like the opportunity to decide whether we would like the 50th.

Fair point.
Of course not, but it sure adds something, knowing that not everyone will wear the same.
I'm sure that if anyone -so to speak- could get a Daytona or a Nautilus just on request without having to wait several years, if not decades, they wouldn't be that much attractive anymore for a lot of people, don't you think ?
But overall I do agree with you, a nice piece remains a nice piece.
