Can anyone confirm if deposits were take by ADs or OBs? Because as far as I’m aware, OBs didn’t take deposits
In the US, OB's took deposits. Eventually some OB's had to return deposits to customers. If you didn't get your deposit returned, that meant Omega will get you a Snoopy. Some AD's also took deposits but that doesn't mean much right now since I'm only aware of 1 delivery to a US AD. I believe it was posted either here or on the FB Speedmaster group.

Everybody keeps citing that phrase wrong…
You always omit the word “eventually”.

The CEO said “eventually” and that means:

in the end, especially after a long delay, dispute, or series of problems.

So, it means after a lot of struggle, who really wants one will get one… and it’s gonna take time, and it doesn’t mean that all the customers in the world, including flippers and very last minute aficionados, will have a watch guaranteed!

I’m well aware of that caveat. I think most who plunked down coin or their name on a list weren’t thinking in terms of a 3 - 5 year window. And I’m not sure what you mean by “a lot of struggle” - is that Omega’s heroic struggles in producing and distributing the watch, or their customers in enduring the seemingly endless wait for one?

Anyway, good luck to all those still waiting. I hope your Snoopy ship comes in.

Current ones? I have one and ordered it from new, and also have two on order for delivery next year. Ordering a Ferrari isn’t as difficult, frustrating, nor do they leave you in the dark

Is one of those the 812 Competizione?

I don’t (and wouldn’t) own one, but a buddy has 12 , half of which are LE’s - and hearing his sagas I’m fairly confident that I need not own one to know that Ferrari doesn’t just sell any car to anyone.

These comments around “they said everyone would get one,” am I correct that - in terms of official communications from Omega - this all stems from the single, early, interview quote from the CEO?

Specifically, am I right it was this interview with Revolution?

Anyway, I didn’t want to create such a watch that we knew people would feel emotionally connected to, and then not make enough so that most people who want one cannot have one. This will, of course, be a gradual process. Every year we will make the number of watches that we are capable of. I’m sure that there will be a surplus of demand, but we will make more each year, and eventually, the people who dream to own the watch can make this a reality.

I think this is very important, because otherwise, with limited editions, sometimes people get upset because they feel left out. We are Omega, we don’t like to exclude people as some others do. We want those who dream about it to be able to get it eventually. This will be a model we will continue to make, but never in huge quantities and without any time limitation. It will be a limited production every year.

We already know it will be a very popular watch, and so, we will make precisely the quantities that we had planned, which will not be a lot. This also allows us to closely monitor the sale of each watch, so that we can do our best to ensure each Snoopy ends up in the hands of a true collector and not a reseller.

I suspect he gave a similar dog-and-pony to other media outlets around the world. I’s also suspect the words/phrasing are pretty consistently repeated.

They certainly covered all bases In that piece!

it goes from everyone who wants one can own one to ‘we don’t like to exclude people’ to ‘we’ll make it to quantities we planned which won’t be a lot and we’ll monitor that they get in the right hands’

seems they are going for the latter approach.

Which begs the question, why come out with all this drivel in the first place when it was never going to happen? As the old Ronan Keating song goes: “You say it best when you say nothing at all” - ie like Rolex does. 🙁

the simple answer is: they claim they couldn’t anticipate how amazing their watches are, generating unprecedented/unpredictable demand

it’s a simple answer, but obviously unbelievable to most

Don’t forget: “and then not make enough so that most people who want one cannot have one.”

And: “I’m sure that there will be a surplus of demand, but we will make more each year, and eventually, the people who dream to own the watch can make this a reality.”

Finally we are getting the complete citation, including the “eventually” 😉

to be most skeptical, None of the quotes above say anyone who wants one, nor that they can buy it at MSRP

do you dream of having one? Do you want it badly enough?

then you can have one!

eventually

"with a markup if you can't get one directly from us"

They should've added that line.

I'm glad I'm not a Speedy guy because I can sit on the sidelines and not feel like I'm missing out. I left the Rolex community due to excessive demand and grotesque flipping.

to be fair/reasonable:

we’re here talking about a total of 2 SKU’s in Omega’s entire catalogue (which has something like 3X the tOtal SKU’s of Rolex’s catalogue)

and those 2 Omega models that are difficult to get are unquestionably made in very low numbers - like, 1-3K / year (compared to the 1M a year of total watches Rolex puts out)

Call me naive but I'm hoping that the fact that they are marketing the watch in multiple channels this past few days (YouTube video "The Beagle has landed" plus Instagram stories inviting you to visit the website to learn more about the watch) is a good sign that availability will increase 😀

I agree. Otherwise it could be seen as some sort of "provocation" for the people that are still waiting.
It's time for flippers to hurry up.

Their objective is to put salt on the wound with the video, reflected on the most liked comment on the chat for the video

Photographed from Switzerlands biggest Sunday newspaper (Page 2 and 3) - seems Omega doesn‘t have enough people on their list (for a watch never delievered)
