I think it is safe to assume at this point that if you haven't gotten a call from your OB regarding a deposit return, you are fine. It seems that the deposits were returned early this year, either in Q1 or Q2. Also, I have been following this forum and few others and I haven't seen a US customer complain that their full deposit was returned. Further, at this point, it is a year now since people, including me, placed a full deposit with a US OB. I don't believe that Omega will pull a stunt now or in future and return deposits after 1-15.years. It will be a big scandal for the brand. Whatever culling they had to do at the US boutique level, and a lot of it may be exaggeration by US boutique manages/sales staff as no evidence of it exists on forums, the exercise has already been completed earlier this year. I have no purchase history with Omega boutiques and I am mentally ready for 2023. Anything happening by end of 2022 will be a bonus.

I spoke with my US OB's manager after speaking with a sale associate earlier this week. He stated again that everyone with a deposit will be getting one per Omega. He hasn't heard of clients having deposits returned. They get about 1 per month now and it's going by purchase history. This is an OB in a mid-size city.

I am based in a mid size city and I am in early 40s with my deposit position (thus anticipating end of 2023). I checked with my SA few weeks ago and the manager responded (SA left the boutique) that he is himself monitoring the lists and the movement is slow. However, everyone on the list is guaranteed the watch.I have a feeling that some OB managers/SAs are exaggerating about deposit returns in order to pacify the waiting customers by saying 'see, you are still on the list. Be happy and patient about the process.' As I said, I have not seen any evidence on forums about a US customer getting their partial or full deposit back from a US OB (not ADs, talking about OBs) since Snoopy was announced last year.

I guess anything’s possible, but this theory doesn’t square exactly with my experience - in that I never put down a deposit and was told my name is now on the backup list with others who had their deposits returned ‍♂️

That said, I’m probably biased toward trusting my OB rep because last December I got their 3rd 321 without any buying history with them - so I feel pretty warm about them 😁

^^^ You do realize that your experience is freaking out and depressing all the people that live day to day hoping to hear a kernel of good news from their dealer. Anyway, glad that you finally decided to get the watch on the second offer.
Ha, not my intent at all. I too found the whole thing very strange but “Fate” or something gave me a second chance and had to take it 😀

Talked with my OB this past weekend, interesting how this is all working out. It seems the situation is constantly changing. A few months ago (July), they told me they could likely take my deposit soon. But now its changed and theres no real estimate on when I'd be able to have one. "A couple years" maybe.

I was told I'd be considered above anyone who just decided to call in/drop in for a snoopy without ever making a purchase before. I'm no whale but maybe im somewhere in the middle?

So it arrived a day early. Had a quick look and then back to work! Looks fabulous. Apologies for the rushed amateur photos!

Just got an email from my OB saying my Snoopy was on the way to the boutique. I'm out of state and had always planned to have it shipped, but I think I'll drive up to pick it up in person. Just about exactly one year after putting down my deposit.

Awesome news, congrats!
I bet you have a good history with Omega, maybe not a super duper VIP, but for sure in a good tier.
Enjoy and kudos to your OB for allocating the reference to a good customer.

I've purchased two Speedies and one other Omega from this boutique and have tried keep in frequent contact with them over the years. I don't want my hopes to be falsely raised - I'll feel a lot better when it's on my wrist.

Traveled to Albuquerque NM and decided to visit a boutique. After asking about Snoopy they said Omega told them they were getting one. Not one per year. One period.

There were a few Canopus gold special ordered so there are Omega buyers in Albuquerque. It is hard to understand a scenario where the plan to send one watch to a boutique makes any sense. The only conversation I can imagine at Omega would be, "well, we can't send them zero. We have to at least send one."

According to Omega's site, theres just one AD in Albuquerque and no Boutiques. Makes this less surprising, but it still sucks that an AD is only getting a single watch.

That makes more sense. Thanks. I've been fooled by this before (AD calling themselves a boutique.) Never having been to a OB I wasn't sure what to expect, although I did expect more Omega advertising. I guess I lose my ability to think when in the presence of so many watches. 😀

Thanks for clarifying.

Thats interesting, I've noticed that in some other towns I've visited for work. On Google Maps, you'd see an "Omega Boutique" listed, but if you zoom in and look at the same spot, you'll find the actual jeweler/AD's shop listed. Even in NYC where there is an actual OB, all the ADs also show up on Google Maps as an OB.

I couldn't make the trip, so I had the Boutique ship it to me and it arrived yesterday.

Love the watch - hate the band. It has be the stiffest, most uncomfortable band I've ever had. I tried bending it to limber it up, but I guess I'll just have to wear it awhile and hope it gets better. I can't recall if any of the preceding 250 pages in this thread mentioned it, but I'll be looking for alternative bands/bracelets.

FWIW, the Boutique said they were receiving 10 pieces this year, and I got #8.

The band softens up over time.
Be patient.

I have the Snoopy blue cordura strap on another Speedmaster, but I am using a German-made Fluco deployant buckle that costs $30. Stiffness of the strap isn't an issue this way and it makes the strap a lot more comfortable, and easier and safer to take on and off. Just an option. Personally, a tang buckle on a sports watch like a Speedmaster just doesn't makes sense.

Yep, it must be so gruelling for you worrying about the ‘comfyness’ of the strap while the majority of us wait 9 years (or so) for the watch itself to materialise - if at all.

Bless.
