Try putting a little more effort in convincing @Archer of your beliefs, you're almost there.😗

Lol... no, I like it this way. Like everything in life the truth could be in the middle.
But what is cool is that for sure time will tell what is the direction Omega is taking.

I absolutely believe the truth is somewhere in the middle between what chadeaux and archer are arguing.

For sure, if they really wanted to, they could crank more of these out. It may come at a cost of producing less of other watches.

100% they want to move brand upward, and this is a key piece. They want supply to be below demand. This will never be a “walk in and buy” watch.

On the flip side, I don’t think they are intentionally trying to hold these watches back and upset customers. They are not making even less than originally planned. There is no manipulation.

Lastly , I think they expected high demand, but are possibly even a bit caught off guard by how high demand has been . Demand for all luxury goods has gone up in the pandemic.
Congrats on getting the watch with what seems like minimal effort.

The stock leather/textile straps with a tang buckle on Speedmasters always seem a bit short for my 7.5" wrist. I have the new blue Cordura Snoopy strap on another watch I recently acquired and it is very stiff right out of the box, almost uncomfortable for me. I also prefer a folding clasp for easy and secure functionality but I didn't want to ditch the strap because it goes well with the watch I have it on so I paid $30 for a 16mm Fluco DP clasp to see if that would help. Big improvement, it fits fine and I don't have to experience the super stiff strap with the tang buckle, and I can use the strap at the middle hole, and it is very comfortable on the wrist. If you go for an Omega deployant strap + Omega deployant buckle you are looking at about $500. Keeping it all Omega is fine but you start running up the tab with straps and buckles. A $30 alternative is ok for me in this case, the Fluco is a nice piece of work and made in Germany, well worth the modest price.
Ouch to the bolded. But yeah.

Agree on the straps -- they are short. I ordered a Jean Rousseau Cordura that IIRC seems longer and I think is the same manufacture.

This is all I’ve been saying.

For me, the wait is nearly over. Got my name put on the list on the day the watch launched at an OB I have a preexisting relationship with and have bought several other Speedmasters from.

Today, I got 'the call', in which I was also asked to reconfirm I am purchasing this watch for myself. Well, that's an easy one. I don't like sharing my watches. 😁 According to the boutique staff I spoke to, deliveries are still very, very limited and demand exceeds supply significantly.

Now, all that's left is taking delivery of it, soon! 😀

My local Omega Boutique told me recently that I’m “next” for snoopy. The manager said that they are now getting one perhaps every 45 days or so. While they had to take care of brand ambassadors and VVIP’s first I don’t think I am a VIP. Here is my purchase history with this boutique if it helps:

1861 moonwatch
Seamaster 300 master coaxial
CK2998 pulsometer
Apollo 11 50th in steel
No time to die
321 Ed white
Apollo 8 on order
I’ve probably purchased 8 or 9 NATOs as well as 3861 bracelet also

I don’t know how much it helps but the manager has sat down with me and asked me about the rest of my collection, and has seen me wearing both Rolex and AP on several occasions. She mentioned that they have to submit a 2 page profile to omega for each client on the snoopy list. I also paid full deposit last may before the new watch was officially announced.

Here’s hoping snoopy is in the cards for me this month. She couldn’t say for sure when, just that I was “next.”

Wow, 2 page costumer profile for Omega HQ+ anti-flippers interview!
I realize how lucky I've been with no purchase history with my OB.

Congratulations to new and imminent new owners, keep them coming!

I mean, good on you, and I hope you get that Snoopy soon and love it, but the day a watch boutique needs to interview me on he state of my watch collection and then submit a 2-page bio of me to HQ is the day I never buy another watch from that store, and maybe company.

I enjoy my Omegas, but I am not going to audition for the chance to pay 15k for one. I guess I can see an OB taking some vicarious pleasure in the process, but this level of scrutiny in order to buy a luxury watch strikes me as absolutely absurd -- no offence to those suffering through it.

I think you misunderstand my post. This was not a formal interview. We sat and talked because I’m a regular in the store. She’s a watch enthusiast so she was asking me about the rest of my pieces in casual conversation when she explained that the store has to submit a 2 page profile to omega directly.

At no point did I feel like this was anything other than friendly conversation when she explained what they have to do behind the scenes.

2 pages seems a bit extreme. Not disputing what I don’t know, but that seems like a lot when you consider the number of clients making requests. For sure they are looking at purchase history, possibly also other factors like length of relationship.

I agree that is beyond absurd. Especially after he listed what he's purchased from them already. I own one Omega that I bought from outside the US and not my OB here. Will be hilarious if they try to get me to do an interview before Snoopy 3 collection, which at this point I doubt will ever happen as they hold my $5k for nearly a year now.

Agree. My guess is they aren’t submitting this for all but maybe those who are prepaid and on the immediate list. Who knows, just relaying what they said.

you have history and above 50K spent with your boutique, I would say that you are exactly the client that should get the allocation.
I don’t understand the 2 pages profile and or what are your other watches… they should know your history with the brand. Do they have any reason to know if you own a PP or some Rolex to establish the right of having the allocation?
This part is just weird… but who cares.
Good luck and thanks for sharing!!

Two page bio submitted to Omega? Pure BS. This is the kind of stuff Patek Philippe requires when you are on the list for tourbillon, perpetual calendar, minute repeater complication, a cost well over $500k. But doing this for a sub-$10k mass produced item, someone's getting full of themselves there in Bienne. But you have to play these silly games sometimes.

Other than listing previous Omega's purchased NEW from the system what else can they add? He treats his mother well, is kind to animals, helps old people across the street? It just gets silly with some of these brands.

Honestly I think she just has a genuine interest in what I collect since she herself shares her own interesting and diverse collection with me as well. She has a very impressive collection including many vintage speedies so I don’t know if she was asking me to report back, or if it was genuine curiosity. But she does seem to remember everything I’ve worn in there.

Who knows, but I figured there I’m not VIP status because I’ve never purchased any precious metal pieces and I know they have several clients who have purchased platinum 321’s, sedna speedies, Canopus and other much more baller level pieces than my collection of steel.

anyway, if I get any more feedback I’ll report here. I’m really hoping to see a snoopy this month!!

Speaking of PM speedies I was able to see the sedna and Canopus versions in person. They are incredible. That 3861 bracelet in sedna especially is amazing. And at the price point I think they’re a pretty good value when compared to other brands.

I just don’t know if I can pull off a precious metal piece like that. I think I’d be very self conscious running around with it.

I've tried and failed with gold watches a few times, including an inherited Cartier, which is a beautiful watch I have always felt unfordable wearing except on special occasions. I enjoy it on the few days a year I have reason to wear it, but would never buy one for regular use although I see the appeal on a watch like the Canopus, with its very striking dial.
