I just got my Snoopy. My local boutique knows if anything interesting speed master comes along to give me a call.

I was offered one back in April but with lockdown etc I missed out.

A few weeks ago (6-8) I asked my local boutique if they could source one for me got the call early last week that they have one for me.

Picked it up yesterday…. Stunning!

The stick strap is short so they are ordering longer one. I just wondered though is there a deployment clasp option? I really like that on the 45th watch. Also love the silver strap and will get one of those.

Nell
There is a blue cordura strap but it doesn’t have all of the Apollo stamping on the inside and it tapers to 18mm.

I actually think the tang buckle suits the watch, the strap loosens up after a couple months.

There are around 4 I've seen on the forum:
@nicolamilton and @Flysatchmo I know for sure, all from OB's iirc. There is also an OF member who got a Platinum 321 but only if he would buy a Snoopy 3.

My AD says maybe end of year/ beginning 2022 when I walked in last month.
Where did you get this from? Did you hear that from the forum member directly?

My understanding is simply that he collected the two watches at the same Time, and it may have simply be an opportunistic purchase for the Pt (or a sale by the OB) by a Speedmaster collector.

Calling on @raclaims to see if he is willing to chime in...

Was intended in jest as that was my reply to the OF member getting the 2 at the same time, my bad for not including an emoij.

Aaahhhhh, sorry for not getting the joke right away!! 🤦
(And I really thought that such an assertion was out of character for you too... 👍).

Anyhow. There are already so many conspiracy theories flying around in this thread, that we do not need to add more fuel to the fire!! 😁

Having said that, if we see an uptick of Pt Speedies for sale on Chrono24, we will know who to blame. 😉

Offered one in April but missed out? Were you not on the waitlist before then or a waitlist at all? You say you like the strap on the 45th so I'm assuming you got it from your OB as far as purchase history?

Well, there goes my chance of getting a snoopy...

Just got a call from my AD, after patiently waiting since placing my deposit last October they informed me that they are no longer an Omega authorised dealership and as such are now returning my deposit.

Absolutely gutted is an understatement, I'll have zero chance of joining a list elsewhere this late in the game... 🤬

Ouch! I had never really thought of this as a possible outcome, so that sucks. I would suggest contacting Omega and explaining what has happened, and see if they can do anything for you. Worth a shot.

ehm ...

https://swisswatches-magazine.com/blog/ceo-aeschlimann-on-omega-novelties-2021/

The Verdict: What did we learn from Aeschlimann?
The Pandemic
For one thing, it appears that OMEGA has not suffered too badly with the pandemic. As we spoke, the backdrop behind Aeschlimann revealed serene OMEGA watchmakers hard at work. Aside from the masks, one would never guess that this is a company still facing a number of closed boutiques, with many of its markets facing a plunge in GDP growth.

Refining of collections
Interestingly, the word “streamlining” and “coherence” came up several times. OMEGA is moving to reconsider which models are worth keeping around, as well as how many limited editions they want to be producing - all the while taking into account the pre-owned watch market, supply, and demand. Aeschlimann’s motivation for “streamlining” will also evidently provide a new level of coherence for both customers and the brand alike.

Cheers @Archer

I've already been phoning around OBs in London. Although they understand the situation, there isn't much they can do as their waiting lists are effectively closed.

If anyone has any contact details for HQ I'd appreciate a pm as I'd like to be able to plead my case.. other than that I think I can only lick my wounds and move on 🙁

Eureka! This is the absolute definitive proof that Omega's goal is to draw this out for hype. Great job! 🙄

Man he clearly said that he is using the Snoopy as a model to boost the brand...
It seems you are opposed to any evidence!

During the last five years, he says, OMEGA’s mission has been to streamline each collection. Starting with the Speedmaster, OMEGA began by taking out a number of the old models. It then started cutting down on many limited editions, while simultaneously aiming to always bring something special - Aeschlimann gives the Silver Snoopy Award as an example. In other words, the goal at OMEGA right now is to improve coherence within each and every collection.

Plus all the huge difficulties at production level... it doesn't seem to be an impossible challenge at this time.
I think there are some interesting information in this article that are debunking many of the hypothesis that have been made in this thread.

You are clearly interpreting this in a way that suits your narrative, and that's not unexpected. That quote to me means that they brought something special - a watch with an animated display back that Omega hasn't done before. I don't read anything in that article that supports the idea that Omega is rolling this out very slowly to create hype. Again, this is the thing I'm pushing back against.

There's also nothing in there about the affects of the pandemic other than they "have not suffered too badly" which could mean sales, rather than sup[ply chain issues.

So you take the interview that I just posted, and you couple it with the points below.
In all honesty You don't think that the slow rate of production and allocation is partially a commercial move to lift up the brand?

https://revolutionwatch.com/in-conversation-with-raynald-aeschlimann-ceo-omega-watches/

Every year we will make the number of watches that we are capable of. I’m sure that there will be a surplus of demand, but we will make more each year, and eventually, the people who dream to own the watch can make this a reality.

This will be a model we will continue to make, but never in huge quantities and without any time limitation. It will be a limited production every year.

We already know it will be a very popular watch, and so, we will make precisely the quantities that we had planned, which will not be a lot. This also allows us to closely monitor the sale of each watch, so that we can do our best to ensure each Snoopy ends up in the hands of a true collector and not a reseller.

I would say it is important that we create a watch that is the right price.

To me, that is the key sentence right there.

Again, we will agree to disagree on this point mate.

Congrats on getting the watch with what seems like minimal effort.

The stock leather/textile straps with a tang buckle on Speedmasters always seem a bit short for my 7.5" wrist. I have the new blue Cordura Snoopy strap on another watch I recently acquired and it is very stiff right out of the box, almost uncomfortable for me. I also prefer a folding clasp for easy and secure functionality but I didn't want to ditch the strap because it goes well with the watch I have it on so I paid $30 for a 16mm Fluco DP clasp to see if that would help. Big improvement, it fits fine and I don't have to experience the super stiff strap with the tang buckle, and I can use the strap at the middle hole, and it is very comfortable on the wrist. If you go for an Omega deployant strap + Omega deployant buckle you are looking at about $500. Keeping it all Omega is fine but you start running up the tab with straps and buckles. A $30 alternative is ok for me in this case, the Fluco is a nice piece of work and made in Germany, well worth the modest price.
