October 5th 2020 - Snoopy Celebration

I think a lot of people don't appreciate the dependency on supply chains. No end product manufacturer makes or sources absolutely everything in house since at the base there is always a constraint on raw materials.

I'm in the process of renovating and extending my house and raw material prices, especially timber are through the roof relative to pre-pandemic and for UK, pre-Brexit days. We had a 7 week lead time on glass for 2 small to medium size double glazed sash windows. Several weeks to get double glazed glass for residential house windows! We ordered 4 Velux windows, delays from 2-4 weeks due to supply chain issues with capacitors for the electronics. Lump in increased demand for renovations and you have delays.

So the latest Snoopy possibly experiencing supply chain delays? Not hard to believe really. I think supply was limited from pre-production and they don't have any capacity to ramp up, especially given the impact of the pandemic.

Ok so spoke to someone today that knows stuff. 😉

Omega is still planning on making the Snoopy for way belong the few years rumoured by people that don’t know shite…..

Supply chain delays are always going to be mentioned by the plethora of people that haven’t received one. In essence a whole lot of people have received one.

Omega still getting 5-10 or so requests a day and people are being told 2025 if just asking ( hence above not only a 3 year make like early rumours )

In a nut shell “ if we had 20,000 right now we wouldn’t give everyone that wanted one a watch and still have people spreading rumours that supply is being restricted “

And

Aqua Tera stuff I’m not telling you in this thread……

PS
Omega people pretty high up are members here and have been for years

so we can agree that this is for a good part planned?
There is this narrative that Omega is trying so hard to deliver as many as possible, while actually Omega is just following the planned slow rate of production and allocation.
It’s pretty easy and linear to me.

ps: 5-10 requests per day? My AD only is receiving 5 calls per day for the Snoopy!

No we can’t agree

Omega is making as many as they planned but there is always going to whining people who aren’t getting what they want when they want.

What do you do when you expect 10-20K but get double that on release and it’s doubled again since that and people are still enquiring.

3 people I know personally and locally that wanted one have theirs and they aren’t posting here………..

I was speaking to someone above boutique level that has been very honest the whole time I have known them.

What part of demand has far outweighed supply don’t you get. Sorry but I get it and don’t jump to conspiracy alternatives

It’s been a good 6 months since I’ve been on this forum and I’m not reading 199 pages to catch up. I understand that supply issues is slowing down the release but does anyone on here have one yet? Has anyone spoken to their AD and got an estimated timeframe? Spoke to mine last week and he said it would be 2022 at the earliest for me...

But that is extremely clear to me!
I think we are actually saying the same thing.
There is no conspiracy. They decided they will release this at a limited rate and of course they have a number that they aim to produce, but also they will not divulge (as it needs to be, otherwise it would have been a LE).
I just don't think that the main driver for slow deliveries is the pandemic... ect...
They want this to be limited production and this is the strategy they are following.

It's so simple.

There are around 4 I've seen on the forum:
@nicolamilton and @Flysatchmo I know for sure, all from OB's iirc. There is also an OF member who got a Platinum 321 but only if he would buy a Snoopy 3.

My AD says maybe end of year/ beginning 2022 when I walked in last month.

Which is approximately how many? Thousands? Hundreds?

What they are doing is clear. What the intent is behind it is not, unless you have some first hand knowledge of the decision-making process.

Maybe 5-10 orders per day? Not everyone calling for an AD or an OB Snoopy is willing to wait an uncertain amount of time.

Good to know they still want to produce it for several years: this way I can use the next 3 years to put some money aside for the Snoopy and wait for it during 2 years. It should arrive just in time for my 40th birthday 😜

Nope, I'm not Aeschlimann's cousin.

Still I think some educated guess is possible, based on the some facts:
Not LE but limited (and slow) production.
Long waiting list.
Objectively quite challenging to get, and actually even difficult to see (the "not for sale" models are not available at OBs).
Very little information divulged to the OB about deliveries and allocations.
Huge demand, of course.

All these taken together aren't the foundation of an halo watch?
So, I don't get the point about the intent.
Is not clear that the intent was exactly the one achieved?
Create a halo watch, highly desirable, difficult to get, high demand low offer, that will keep sparkling the interest on the brand.

Where are the doubts? What is to understand?

You are not Aeschlimann's cousin. That's where the doubts are. But again, you will believe what you want to believe, regardless of the lack of evidence.

Are you mad about the situation chadeaux? I’m trying to understand what you want to achieve. The 45th anniversary Snoopy sold out immediately and took years to deliver because of the hand engraved silver snoopy on the case back.

For certain this is halo piece, no doubt there.

The brand seems to be moving away from limited editions, not just Snoopy. Look at NTTD and 321.

My moonshine Apollo 11 is an absolutely beautiful piece and I think Omega deserves more attention and recognition for some of their watches.

If this helps elevate the brand, I see it as a good thing.

I am actually quite supportive of the brand and the situation!
I think it's a very wise choice that they made at corporate level about moving a bit out from infinite limited editions, that in the end were becoming counterproductive.

The only thing that is frustrating for me is the long waiting and limited information about the deliveries. But that is fine, waiting/hunting for a timepiece is part of the fun.

I just don't get why we have to think that Omega is not using this reference to increase the desirability and create attention on the entire brand.
It seems that many people would rather believe that at Omega they are killing themselves to produce as many as they can in the shortest time possible... when actually is not like that, simply because it was decided from the beginning this would have been a pretty slow process.
Why we have to pretend that Omega is not looking at this also from the commercial operation point of view?
And I'm saying also, not only.

It's quite obvious this is part of a plan to help lifting the brand.
Otherwise what are the executives doing? Aiming of unsuccess?

I predict that if you have not received your 50th Snoopy by December of 2024, you won't get one because the 55th anniversary LE is coming out in 2025 ::facepalm1::

I just got my Snoopy. My local boutique knows if anything interesting speed master comes along to give me a call.

I was offered one back in April but with lockdown etc I missed out.

A few weeks ago (6-8) I asked my local boutique if they could source one for me got the call early last week that they have one for me.

Picked it up yesterday…. Stunning!

The stick strap is short so they are ordering longer one. I just wondered though is there a deployment clasp option? I really like that on the 45th watch. Also love the silver strap and will get one of those.

Congrats on getting this wonderfull piece, just wondering if this is actually something they could do or you just have been top of the list for when one is being shipped by Omega HQ?
