I can barely make out what these guys are saying.

Yes, it’s a very strange, alien dialect we Brits call ‘English.’

Paul Thorpe and Spencer Dryer mentioned how some people are getting calls from Omega and having their Snoopy orders canceled. Has anyone heard of this? I wonder if it's from OB's

Video linked below:
They mention it at about 4:30.

The guy does say at the end of that segment the customers are getting calls from "Omega" with cancellation and refunds so sounds like OBs and not ADs.

That would mean Omega decided that they would be making fewer watches than initially anticipated. Because (in the US at least) orders were confirmed by corporate if you placed through an OB.

Maybe less production in the end...guess we'll have to wait and see. I've had my $5k deposit with my US OB for nearly a year now and was told the same that I am guaranteed one being I have a deposit on the list and confirmed. If they call me and cancel I will promise them I will never buy an Omega watch again. That might seem extreme to some here, but there are plenty of other companies I'm happy to spend money on without having to play games.

They will never do that… their credibility will go down to zero. I trust my SA, but of course now everybody will start getting nervous 😀

Maybe someone from the UK can confirm but I thought some of the UK OB's are still owned by independent companies while actual US OB's are owned and operated by Omega.

I agree with chadeaux , I don’t think Swatch Group owned OBs will return deposits after promising a watch. For independent dealers and OBs, Omega probably doesn’t have a lot of control if they messed up and over-promised.

Hoping Canadian OB Snoopy deposits are safe and sound as well.

Did they accept full payment in Canada?
The OB asked for a $5000 deposit to get on the Snoopy list. I believe the option is there to pay it off in full if desired.

There was a thread last month about people getting calls about deposits in the UK:

https://omegaforums.net/threads/ome...eing-returned-goldsmiths.132903/#post-1804294
Thanks for sharing, I reckon this is what they were referring to. Bit relieved that it seems to be AD's and not OB's. Still unfortunate for those affected.
Edit: In the video, Spencer mentioned that the cancelation calls were from "Omega" so that still adds to some of the confusion. Likely just phrased it in a confusing way.

Most people don't know the difference between an AD and an OB so anecdotes from third parties stating that they were contacted by "Omega" shouldn't be taken as containing all the "facts". For me, an OB is a store that's owned and operated by Omega, anything else is an AD even if it's furnished to only sell Omega watches.

Just for your info

Some dedicated omega boutiques in the uk are owned and operated by a third party, mainly Ernest Jones, despite being omega exclusively.

Yeah, unfortunately that's part of the problem. Looking at the Omega UK site you can't tell the difference. I know at least one site on there which is listed as an OB is owned by Beaverbrooks, that's where I collected my Speedmaster. They spoke about how their priority with receiving harder to obtain watches form Omega correlated to their sales volumes and targets.

My understanding in the UK is the Omega Boutiques owned by Omega Corporate never actually took any deposits but a lot of Omega ‘Boutiques’ owned by WOS, Beaverbrooks, goldsmiths etc did.

I stopped by the Omega boutique in Tyson's Corner (Virginia, USA) and asked about getting on the waiting list. As expected, the salesperson told me they were not taking any new deposits or adding to the list. The salesperson also told me if I was really interested in the watch my best bet was to get it on the secondary market or wait until the next anniversary edition is released.

LOL.

Shopping mall at Tysons Corner, Virginia ( 20 minutes from Washington, DC ) OB yesterday : " It will probably take us all 4 years just to fulfill all our orders with deposits. If you really want one sooner best to look at the secondary market."
. . . I posted this in this thread on Feb 21, 2021.

I guess we got the same sales guy !
