I'm loving this conjecture on what this 50th Celebration will be, the fact that people are willing to part with large sums of money for a deposit on something that hasn't been announced yet is fascinating and thankfully not something we have to do here in the UK at this moment.

Assuming that Omega do announce a watch to celebrate the 50th anniversary of being presented with the Snoopy Award it is extremely unlikely that the watch will be in dealers in 2020, a few well chosen exceptions will get theirs of course, no one knows what the watch will look like, the numbers produced or what the cost will be.

My best guess is that the watch will be a numbered edition, it will be the run out of the 1861/63 movement, the run will end when all the movements are cleared from stock and it will be priced around £7500.

From 2021 all Speedmaster Moonwatch's will feature the new 3861 movement and at a vastly increased price, £7500.
hard pass if so.

but what if this watch had a solid silver snoopy on the dial, a special inscription on the back, a ceramic bezel with a DON, some moonshine gold for some of the accents, came with a version of the new 321 bracelet, a special box with some other Snoopy paraphernalia etc etc?

Main issue for me in your guess is the 1861/3 and price. The 3861 I already have is perfect in accuracy and hacking.

That 3861 is the bees knees apparently, Omega has to make more use of it than a couple of special editions, so it could go in the 50th but what of the 1861/63 it cannot go on forever, can it?

That's why all of the speculation is that the moonwatch in it's current form will be discontinued and a new model will be introduced with an updated movement.

Agreed, an uneducated guess they are already phasing out the 1861. I have no interest in a stock Speedy with the A11 50 SS already in my collection and a possible Snoopy with 3861.

I have the very humble but very worthy Hesalite Speedy, I am hoping to get the 321 next year (? maybe) so a 3861 powered watch would be a welcome addition to my collection and I don't have a LE edition yet.

If the price of the new 321 wasn't out of my comfort zone for a SS ( cheaper than my current 3861), I would have maybe considered it instead of a possible Speedy Snoopy.

BTW I like to make a watch vintage so new is how I roll.

Yes, I did consider a vintage watch, a birth year to be exact, and got great help from people on this forum but decided that this wasn't the way I wanted to go, I decided on new watches allowing me to make the dings, dents and scratches all on my own.

So my plan, 1861 Speedy bagged, 321 Speedy on order (I may be in the tick-tock nursing home before it arrives though), and a 3861 at some point but what will it be in, it cannot just be for LE's or Specials there has to be more to the new movement than that.

Let's hope 5 October they announce a Speedy Snoopy 3861 LE which would cover all your bases in your collection with the 321 in 2021 on it's way.

Would they really update the stock Speedy before they sell all "Snoopy's"?

Now that is a good question, after 20+ years of service and Omega's focus on METAS and the Master Chronometer everyone expects the 1861 to be eased out of the line up, but when and how do you do it, with a bang and a flourish i.e. from 1st January 2021 all new Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional will feature the 3861 or quietly and just let the Speedy Pro to be dropped and a new basic 3861 Speedmaster, with ceramic bezels and other modern touches be introduced?

Why what was so delayed, the 50th? or are there crossed wires here?

It’s a great movement. If you don’t have one I thoroughly recommend the Apollo 11 50th. A beauty of a watch (although more jewellery like than most speedies)

No the A13 45th. They trickled out slowly with the reason I received from Omega being due to issues on the star dust on the caseback which I found funny how hard is it to chuck some dust on 😀

Ah, that explains it, I thought you had some info on the 50th Anniversary.

I don’t personally think it’s a huge issue to put deposits down on watches; in my experience (in the UK) they have always been refundable if you change your mind or don’t like the watch when you see it).

You are quite correct a deposit in the UK is fully refundable in the event that you do not want the watch, from experience it is usual for the deposit to be around 10%, sometimes 20% depending on who you are dealing with. But, unlike some countries we are not required to place a deposit when we ask to go on a waiting list, I have never been asked to place a deposit when simply asking to be added to the list, the request for a deposit is when the watch becomes available and I need to confirm if I am serious about buying, so in effect a payment to reserve the watch.
