Well, since this doesn't seem to be a particularly somber thread, I'll add some related humor...

Will never forget that car chase. Had no idea who he was, what was happening or why it was newsworthy. Then realised I really did have no idea what was happening, as I'd become delirious with what they thought was viral encephalitis but turned out to be something more manageable. June 1994. Now I've watched it again on YouTube, and the version in my head was so much better. Mice were talking to me from across the street at the time. And a horse came into my room looking for an apple. So later I wasn't surprised to find that gloves don't fit.

The star struck judge, Lance Ito, ran a very sloppy court and let the defense get away with, well, murder. A clown show. But the DA's decision to bring the trial downtown in order to 'keep an eye on it' was probably fatal. He should have been judged by his peers in upscale Brentwood, where the murders took place, instead he got a weird, sketchy juror pool who were never going to convict him. Just because. The prosecution team was also ill prepared for the battle. They didn't see the racialisation angle that the defense used to good effect. And the rest is history, as sorry as it is. No doubt about it, it gripped the nation before the Internet got going.

I’d say good riddance but, the trouble is that when one of these deadshits dies another 6 are there to replace them!

Yeah but that doesn’t lessen the the important fact that he was a total and utter arsehole!

Once again I’m not defending him it’s just amazing how fall a human can fall, do we all have it in us under certain circumstances?

I dunno if 'fall' is the right verb. He didn't make a mistake under extreme emotional duress. He was a violent, serial abuser for many years. I'd like to think that most of us can deal with a breakup without nearly decapitating our exes.

... But cool football skills though?

How dare you I detect sarcasm in your tone. We fall in many different ways. It was just a word to describe being at the top and becoming a murdering scumbag. I work with inmates who have clean jackets, successful careers but are now in jail for murder for shooting either the ex who left or the exces partner. Now these guys most of the time exhibit remorse, it seems the juice never did. There is a famous case in one county I cover that a DV case lead to murder when the judge released the offender the next day with no monitoring. Most of the people I work with are bat shit crazy but these DV cases seem to take a normal person make them bat shit crazy. And I’m not saying all but you do not want to catch a DV case in this court I frequent even the state troopers tell me they think the court has tied their hands and they are forced to make arrest with serious consequences for things they think they could have handled. A big law suit played a part I think but nothing runs deeper than matters of the heart. Once again I think OJ is a disgusting killer just most of the cases I work no one was a famous football player, well none actually. Fall was used generally
