Not winding forward

Hi all. Looking at a Constellation 14393/4 which has the 561 caliber. The crown will wind backwards or anti/counter clockwise but not forward. I have no intention of putting pressure on it as the watch will probably have to go back. What would be the problem here or some advice please.

I'm guessing that winding means simply turning the crown. If it turns backward but not forward, you have a problem with either a broken gear of something impeding the gears from engaging. Either way, it will need attention from a watchmaker.

Sometimes the winding can be very stiff if the watch is in need of service.

The watch was supposed to be serviced in April.

With some of the clover/hexagonal crowns, winding can be hard at the best of times as these crowns aren’t easy to grip. If there’s genuine resistance then it perhaps wasn’t serviced properly. Do you have a service receipt or just someone telling you it was serviced?

Then it’s probably still under the warranty most reputable repairers give, which is generally 12 months. Send it back to whoever serviced it. You may have to pay parts and service, but that’s all.

I am in the process of buying this watch and only received it today. The dealer has a very good reputation and I don’t think there will be a problem. I have a 14 day return option but I really love the watch which is in fantastic condition but encountered this problem when trying to wind it.

Aah, return it for a refund but tell him you’re interested in buying it again as and when it’s fixed.
Just out of interest, where’s the seller based?

Thank you. To be fair to the dealer I will not give their location unless they become difficult about this but they are based in Europe.
