Seiko just rang, they want their museum back 😉

I feel like I should direct you to this thread: https://omegaforums.net/threads/hello-from-the-southwest-usa.160204/.

I'm just getting started in comparison.

Edit: to put this thread more on track with the OP's ruminations... I find myself enjoying Seiko quite a lot lately. They run the gamut of the collecting hobby - $100 watches, $50K watches, a huge brand heritage, weird funky watches, bizarre and cheesy co-branded watches, classy watches, vintage divers, watches worn in space, etc, etc. There's something for almost everyone.

Even when I think that I've gone mad collecting watches as I do... Or when my news feed is full of click-bait watch articles from blowhard YouTubers... There's always a humble vintage Seiko 5 to remind me that I don't have to overthink any of this.

Thanks! It's certainly getting colorful in my watch box. I think picking up a 62mas or 6105-8110 would definitely make it more robust 😁.
And with a 6306 - 7000 it would be even more and more attractive.

I'm about to lose my Seiko lover street cred... But I've never personally loved the turtle. Someone please sell me on why it's an awesome model and why I should reconsider my opinion.

Because it hacks, hand winds, and the movement is ultra robust and accurate. It does not attract most people in the beginning, but once you feel it on your wrist you can't take it of easily. And the dial is gorgeous.

Mine is in Europe, will bring it when I go there this summer. I miss it a lot.

Ok, I'll give it a shot. If there's one thing I've learned about watch collecting, you can fall in love with almost any design if you look at it long enough. 😀

Great thread. I just ended up here today, latest purchase is an SKX009 JDM market from 1996… and I’m just as excited for it as any other watch I’ve picked up over the years.
