when you like mechanical watches, you don't care about accuracy !!!!
Accuracy has nothing to do with nice movement, hand built. With mechanical watches you are in another wolrd. If you want accuracy at the second, go for an Omega X33, or ... look at your phone 馃槈

Yeap, that麓s why I listen with Grados 馃憤 No side effects except from playing too loud::rimshot::

I'm more of a Sennheiser HD800 and Sennheiser HE-6 electrostatic kinda guy. But I do own 3 pairs of Grados.

Santa brought me the PS500es this past Christmas to replace my 10 year old 325s for daily wear at the office with a Schiit Stack and a vintage Marantz processing my music collection on my computer. I brought home my 325s and they live here at home on my laptop connected to a Schiit Fulla. The 225s I had at home I gave to my niece and nephew who only know the earbuds that came with their phones.

You know it all comes down to marketing when they can sell a set of headphones for a lot more than an average set of Bose 301s

I've still got an early pair of HD650s, they've served incredibly well for their age. Next on my headphone list are some Noble Audio Kaiser 10 IEMs, heard nothing but incredible things.

You guys rock some nice headphones. I got some bluetooth noise-canceling beats. Also got some NC Bose. I travel quite a bit. Their OK, expensive but also kind of task specific. Sound quality is about equal.

Crazy to think some of these phones cost half as much as a pair of B&W CM8 S2.

I'm known as HeadPhoneAddict on other forums. I've had and still own some pretty incredible headphone gear, and used to do reviews. I have tonnes of headphones, in ear monitors, custom molded in ear musicians monitors, amps, dacs, cables, etc. At one point a few years back my headphone gear was worth more than my watch collection, then I sold my two best headphone amps and 2 best headphones, while doubling my watches.

@ahartfie - if you count my Alessandro MS-1 I have four pair of Grado, not three. My favorite are my HF-2 #24, and they're the last pair made from #0-24 prototypes, without the typo on the production batch labeling them as Head-F1 instead of Head-Fi - I picked them up at Head-Fi CanJam 2009 in LA when I also picked up one of the first 50 pair of HD800 ever sold. They're magical with my PS Audio Perfectwave DAC Mk2 and Eddie Current ZDt amp. My favorite custom molded musician monitors are my Westone ES-60 that I received last year at CanJam 2015 at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. My JH Audio custom In Ears are pretty close.

Wow, Larry, thats some serious cans you have ::rimshot::I got a (modest) pair of Grado RS325麓s and O2+ODAC and I just love the clarity and space of the sound馃憤 And that power that O2+ODAC brings! That combo (from http://www.headnhifi.com/ ) is just incredably good for the price.

I need Larry to come speak to my wife. She thinks I'm crazy for Sonos in every room of the house and three zones in the yard. She would pass out if I spent that much on a pair of phones.

I think the pertinent question for here is how many omega headphone stands do you have? 馃槜
(I don't have any, but I've been thinking about getting one.)

Very few people and professions require " to the second" time accuracy, and those that do ( let's say you're a navy seal coordinating an operation with 6 other units including detonation) know very well hot to get it and from where... Like a good old g shock.

+1
Frankly I work in television where we do need absolute accuracy to the second and guess what.... we don't need watches for that!! We have clocks and tools all over the place.
I really don't get people getting all worked up about plus or minus one second or 10 seconds per day on their watch....

Interesting. I work in TV too, where everything is timed to the the last second. If a show, commercial is off by 1 second, that is written as a discrepancy and explained how it happened. Very high standards.

I'm still using metal banana stands from Bed bath and Beyond for my high-end headphones.

Amazon has a nice collection of headphone stands. I got a couple Brainwavz acrylic stands for around $20.

Bose 301s, LOL. Bose is truly a company that has prospered due to advertising vs having great-sounding products. They made their company a household name. Can't blame them for it though because that strategy works. I was railroaded into buying a pair of 301s >25 years ago for my mom because it was the only speaker brand she knew of, and she was leery of anything else. These days I shudder every time I hear a car model's option package includes an "upgraded Bose stereo". We got stuck with one in my wife's Mazda because there was no way to omit it with the other options she wanted. It is truly a horrible radio.

Bose has a nice mid-range product. 2 (8") subs and 4 (2") tweeters using direct/reflect technology for $300 is a good deal. They're not my main speakers. But there was a time when I was in college and that was all I could afford. They rocked my apartments. The comparable speakers in that price bracket don't even compare (today or back in the day) IMO. They still cost the same amount as they did back then...which is very impressive. Mine still work great. Using them in a gym with 4 B&W ceiling speakers. Sounds fantastic with a Sony 1060 Hi-Res streaming receiver.

You brought up the other major watch issue, the WIFE. There are more suggestions on how to deal with that than your accuracy concern. The are many threads here dealing with this and you are welcome to seek them out. Suffice it to say there is no one easy answer. Now that I mentioned it formally I am sure many will offer suggestions. While this is common and universal around the world, each wife is still unique and you will have to find a solution that works for you. Don't despair, there some common aspects. First when figuring the cost of watch, double it. It may be shoes, a hand bag, a trip to a romantic location (incidentally romantic location are good times and places to buy watches) or whatever, but it's going to cost you so start thinking and do your research. 馃憤

For ages I have needed (yes Needed) a Speedy pro, I wanted a brand new one 1861 cal. I wanted the amazing box, and I wanted to be able to change it to the omega NATO, then how to deal with the wife issue, I wanted a 拢3,540 speedy (was lucky to get a little inheritance 拢10k which made my grail watch hove into view). We went to London for a weekend to see sting at Hammersmith (treat for her) and on the saturday I took her into Tiffanys, well she is a red blooded woman and her eyes were like saucers at all the bling. She could not take her eyes off of a beautiful 18ct coffee bean three coloured gold necklace and bracelet set 拢1.6Kand I did the whole "you only live once babe and we had that money". "anyway I can always look for something, you know how I love my omega I could do with a new one" with that she was all over the necklace. Needless to say our next visit was the Omega store in Harrods and I was making a big deal looking at the new Seamaster 300 and the blue PO and the wife spotted the speedy in the cabinet with the whole big box thing it has going on, (which is the one I wanted). The wife wanting to keep the bill down was all over the speedy (to be fair she really did like it too). So I get my speedy yes It cost me 拢5k but I got my grail watch. I do feel kinda bad about the manipulation ... My next project is the Seamaster 300 I may need a bit more than a 1.6k necklace to bag that bad boy. LOL

It's all very subjective isn't it, in the sense that some focus on that kind of accuracy, whereas others - like me - have no idea how accurate their watches are and don't care as long as they "tell the time". Accuracy to the second is not important to me in a watch: I need my watches to tell me how long I've been underwater, when it's lunch and hometime, and to look cool馃榾
