When I moved to Germany I started to pick up some of the local lingo. The trouble is, as a non-native speaker you can't help but make strange word associations. For example, the German word for Hedgehog is Igel, but it's pronounced like the English word Eagle. So now whenever I hear about the American bald Eagle this comes to mind... Image nicked from the net. I guess this must be the German Imperial Igel
The tourists think they're safe, that the Great White Shark can't get to them if they're inside the boat. They don't know that we have jumping sharks that can heave their 440lbs arse into a tinny with ease. http://www.smh.com.au/environment/a...mans-boat-off-evans-head-20170528-gwf55m.html
that's the penalty we now pay for all of those South African shark tours where they "encourage" the sharks to jump out of the water. damn saffers.....
So you British thought it was cool to transport convicts to Australia? Well now it's payback time, Australia brings you "Spiders to Britain". The first consignment has just arrived. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/40718...-10000-mile-lift-to-uk-in-familys-belongings/ Maybe it's a female with thousands of eggs somewhere!
Well some one posted some thing about our Bald Eagle here is a photo I took of one off my back porch Here are a group of birds of all kinds coming back to MT after winter the lake is melting it's solid ice in winter. Only the Poms would be silly enough to send all their prisoners to surfers paradise, whilst keeping a cold, wet and crowded little island for themselves....not well thought out that one. Meanwhile, here's a message from our ministry of tourism....
What happened to the sea lice in Melbourne? http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/he...s/news-story/f8491eb771b0db371d4980a9bd4e29d0
It's not for the faint hearted.... Must admit with the spate of shark attacks we've had on the mid north coast of NSW, I've really gone off swimming out in the surf. When I was a kid I was out there on my board before dawn and after dusk all the time. Must be losing my sense of adventure.
Maaate , No worries, she'll be right. Like if your lucky the odds are you'll only lose a leg or arm and that's why you have two of each.
Looks like it's time to put cable ties on my bike helmet again, not that they seem to work that well. https://au.news.yahoo.com/video/watch/36895943/melbourne-magpie-swooping-season-kicks-off/
The magpies are mental. Whilst out walking the dog yesterday, I was watching one attack the business end of a 2.5 m (8 foot) long Python. One wrong move and Maggie would have been the first decent meal after a hat long winter sleep. Unfortunately, this was all happening in the shadow of some trees and the iPhone doesn't pick out the contrast.
Many visitors to Australia go to Manly Beach, well this may change their minds. A live 1.5m baby great white shark washes up on the beach and they move it to a pool! http://www.msn.com/en-au/news/austr...y-beach/ar-AArFMtR?li=AAavLaF&ocid=spartanntp
