    In a way.
When I was a school kid, my father bought a property in north west NSW, on a huge floodplain.
Before we could move in, the biggest flood in 50 yrs covered everything. Overcame the house levy & delayed our move by months.
When we did move there were puddles of water & frogs everywhere. Snakes were crawling around so full of frogs I often saw legs sticking out their mouths.

I don't believe we bothered taking a photo of the dunny, but it looked exactly like that pic @rob#1 posted, without the rubbish. We kept a big pair of pliers in there to fight the frogs away before use.

That became known as the 1974 flood. Less than 2 years later, cyclone Tracy wasted Darwin, & the remains of the depression flooded northern NSW all over again. The frog & snake population went ballistic again.

I remember the 1974 floods because we were on a driving trip in Qld during the summer school holidays and, as a young kid from Victoria, I had never seen such torrential rainfall and flooding. Sometimes the rain was so heavy it was impossible to drive and we had to sit on the side of the road and hope nobody would run into the back of us because you couldn't make out tail lights (and I'm sure hazard warning lights didn't exist then).

My first day in Canberra and I spot one thing that will most definitely kill my wallet... and here I thought I would be safe since we are far from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

I hope they change the lock on that door. My Granddaughter could have it open in 15 seconds.

All I know is I can't wait to file suit against my neighbors the next time they taunt me for my eating preferences by grilling zucchini and allowing the smoke to blow into my yard. I'm a carnivore, and it is my right to practice such without being persecuted for my beliefs.

Today's view from the road into town.

Our local bushfire level is Extreme. I have cleared all the flammable material from our property, we have a brand new roof & gutter guard thanks to a hailstorm last year & I have installed two 30m hoses for both sides of the house. But we are still on town water so its all for nothing once we lose pressure. I need tanks & a pump run off a generator. We live inside a National Park, nothing but bush out the front of ours.

    Bone fucking dry.

Going to be a long summer.

Most assuredly, all things in Australia DO WANT TO KILL YOU.
