It looks good to me. Obviously something like sets off alarm bells due to the rarity associated with the condition but I can’t see any issues.

I also think the price isn’t bad at all. When opening the link I expected to see it higher.

Re:radium concentrations, the ‘hotness’ of the mix was reduced over the years, especially by the 50’s wasn’t it? It’s no so uncommon to find standard silver/cream dial Seamasters/Constellations with little no radium burn on the dial.

Wife has been asking for an Xmas List from me... sent her this link.
She just texted back, "Go f*** yourself."

She can be so direct, and those words - Santa wouldn't approve.

For that kind of money, and considering the claim of NOS, better photos are needed. That sub-seconds dial and the possibly crooked 6 o'clock triangle could indicate a redial, and the case could be polished. We just can't tell from those photos.

Another comment about this string, in general: who really wants an NOS watch? The moment you wear it, it's not NOS anymore and the value plummets! And btw, doesn't the wrist shot in this listing technically make it not NOS anymore, if "never worn" is part of the definition? 🤔

I do have something similar - original strap, sticker, hangtag albeit a different style:

The vast majority of my watches with lume from this era don’t have burn,

For a rare vintage NOS complete set of a watch model that's actually desirable? I'd say it's a bargain.

Im kind of agreeing with this. To me the only comparable ‘other brand’ watch is the 1016. Those you can buy from multiple dealers every day of the week. They are as common as muck, and command the same price as this, which honestly is ridiculous imho. I’d say ‘bargain’ too.

with regards to the radium burn : can’t say I have seen a white dialed ranchero with radium burn. We have a danish member with several pristine examples. Perhaps they did something extraordinary with the dial 😀

Maybe it was stored in a high vacuum to reduce oxidative reactions and radium burn. 😁
Vacuum does nor prevent from radiation. Ask astronauts!...😉

I'm quite certain @Dan S was being tongue in cheek. 😀

I don't actually know the mechanism behind radium damage to dials, but I suspect that it is due in large part to free radical chemistry, hence the comment about vacuum storage.

I am sorely tempted by this because I think that authentic original Rancheros are already very difficult to find and, as much as I loathe bringing the “investment” factor into the discussion, I believe that excellent examples will continue to appreciate in value and have quite a bit of upside potential left to go. But 20k? Yikes.

Owning a NOS example of any collectible is not about using them, it’s about being the steward of an exemplary specimen- a museum piece essentially. Some people are fine having a static collection (doesn’t leave the box) as it’s the reference by which all others are judged. Wether that’s your thing or not, someone has to keep these things in pristine shape.
And if someone buys this watch and wears it to make a statement about how watches are meant to be worn…you’re a total ass.

@gbesq I think you should corner the market
Be careful what you wish for, Niko! That would mean less money for me to buy stuff from you!

I think you should sell all your watches and restart from the beginning.

That’s a negative, ghost rider. The pattern is full.
