Non-existent reference number on warranty card?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to purchase a pre-owned Moonphase Speedmaster from a legitimate reseller, however it is being advertised with the reference number "38765000" with the original warranty card being sold with it showing that same number. I’ve been looking online, and it appears that specific reference number doesn’t exist for an Omega.

The watch itself is the Speedmaster Professional Moonphase Chronograph (1866 movement) on a steel bracelet, looking identical to reference number 35765000 and it easily could have been a typo by the current seller, but that doesn’t explain the warranty card showing a different/unused reference number. There is also reference number 38765031, which is essentially the same watch but with a leather strap.

I've reached out to the seller and they believe it was a custom order by the original owner, but would Omega create a custom reference number based on a custom order? Wondering if Omega themselves made a typo on the original warranty card? I've also reached out to Omega and haven't heard back.

Here is a photo of the card with the “38765000” reference shown. Any insight on this would be very much appreciated!

If you can get me the serial number, I can look it up using that to see what the corresponding reference is.

So, the reference on the card is not correct, according to Omega.

Very interesting, thank you for checking! Is there any other information you see about the watch when looking up the serial number?

Also wondering if you have any idea how the card reflects a never used reference number? This one is strange…

Not sure what information you are after - but t's clearly an 1866 movement, black dial, with bracelet.

The card is odd - who knows if it's even a real card...

I’m not overly familiar what Omega shows with the serial number lookup. Curious if they give general information such as the year it was manufactured, if it was ever serviced with Omega, etc., but no worries if you only see the basics.

I’m also wondering the same about the card’s validity. The watch itself definitely appears to be genuine, but I have an opportunity to validate that and return it for a refund if it happens to be fake.

I appreciate your help with this. Have a great rest of your day.

No, that information isn't given in the system I have access to. This system is primarily for ordering parts, and getting technical documentation.

If you call Omega with the serial number, they may be able to tell you if it was serviced with them and when. For things like the date of manufacture, they will want you to buy an extract of the archives for that...

The picture you linked in your original post is the Pictograms card which is different than the more important International Warranty card which includes the reference number, the watch's serial number, dealer stamp, the country code that the watch was sent to, and date sold. Is that card included in the package you are buying? If not you are buying a watch with incomplete paperwork. That's not a deal killer but it will affect the price you should pay.
