I'm news to luxury watches. (I've actually owned the Goldeneye era Seamaster for 20+ years but Omega have really stepped up their game since then ...I don't consider that in the same league as their current offerings)
I'm a big Bond fan but have never felt any interest in needing to own what I see the character wearing. But when I saw the new 007 No Time to Die model I instantly fell in love with it. I didn't even know what fauxtina was, I just thought the color scheme was unique and cool. Omega calls it tropical and that made sense to me. Its very light browns against very dark brown. I love the color and lightness of titanium but the price was off putting.
So I tried to scratch the itch by buying the standard black wave dial model instead. And that worked ....for about a week. The black dial model is gorgeous and I have no actual complaints at all with it ... but I just kept surfing the websites and watching Youtube reviews of the 007 model anyway. .... So I decided to view the black dial standard model as an intro to modern seamasters and a comparison before spending the insane price difference on the 007 model. I discovered I don't want a date function, I don't care about the open case back, and I prefer the matt finish and subtleness of the 007 model to the polish and sparkle of the stainless steel back model.
So I flipped the black model quickly and took a slight loss. It sold within an hour of me listing it online since it was basically brand-new and someone after that model smartly jumped on the deal.
So my dream watched arrived today.
Love everything about it. The domed crystal adds so much to the watch. The constantly changing visual and light distortions make it feel like something special is going on ..... even though I know logically the standard flat with double AR coated glass if objectively much better in every measurable way lol
Its worth noting for those wondering if the weight difference makes the price worth it. The answer is no - if you prefer nato straps. The weight of the standard model is really in the bracelet. On nato straps the difference is something like 75 to 105. .... I can not tell any difference at all on the wrist. But I do prefer the brushed titanium color.
No regrets at all about taking the small hit and paying the huge upgrade fee....but who knows ...maybe talk to me in a week
😁
Oh, and the case it comes with is awesome and is actually useful, as opposed to the normal box which looks really nice but is a useless space hog.
Here it is on a Strapify 'great grey' nato .... because I find Omega's straps too bulky and stiff and the color choice bizarrely in-your-face for a watch where the case/dial/bezel are about matt subtleness.
