I run into this one for grabbing quite long time ago, personally i am keen on that it is a redial since the hour mark was fixed at 15 minites mark, and the back case graving is quite steep, what do you folks think?

What’s the abnormal slope of with the first ‘t’ in the word ‘constellation’?”

please compare to this example (picture was copied from internet).

I would've guessed this is something more frankenish but mostly original parts

Fooled me if it's completely fake, up close it should be easier to tell, but from photos, they did an ok job replicating things

Up close they feel really off but the mid case is the easiest piece to recognise in pics, the fakes have this sort of band in the center with rounded edges rather than the machined facets of the real case and on the real ones the lugs blend in to the mid upper facet near the bezel. The stars and shape of the case back medallion is also typical of the common counterfeits that have been around for a long time.

Can you help me to point out and elaborate more on the band in the center with round edges, I still am not sure where it is?

Am I correct that the band should not be round but with chamfering and faceting right?

Yea it’s a very angular case design on these, the edge can get polished and they can appear rounded but you’ll still see those flat edges deeper in between the mid case and bezel and the lugs will meet those surfaces

I see it now too, thanks @dsio

I pity the caseback faker guy, he did his job best, probably cried when he saw the final product 😁

Yea I mean overall when it came out these just wreaked havoc and there was a time when a lot of people were scared off doglegs entirely. The case backs come in different versions too as it’s only stamping differences, even different case maker stamps but the features of the casting tend to be the same. There were a few different batches of dials as well, date, no date, even a pile of gilt black dials appeared on the market and initially people couldn’t believe their luck, but then the identical black gilt pie pans started appearing for cheap on eBay and it got out.
