Given that the current gen SMP arrived in 2018 - when will we see an update? O-mega steel I suppose and I guess that will be in all their watches in the future?

Next year is the 30th anniversary of the model. If not a refresh I'm sure we'll see at least some special (limited?) edition.

They will probably move to their new stainless steel in the next iteration, but personally, I hope they stick to 316L on the SMP line. I also hope they don't ruin the bracelet by tapering it or changing it altogether. That would be a very sad day, imo. I would love to see anything that commemorates the 2531.80 and also a return of the beautiful, solid, low profile, hippocampus case backs. That too, is doubtful. Here's hoping!

So far, I'm very fond of all four SMP 300M designs. The SMP line is my thing. 馃憤

Man, I hope they don't do anything with it for years. The newest version is barely four years old. Despite wanting a couple changes on the Planet Ocean, I'm glad they left it as is for now. I have no problem with leaving any model as is for 8-10 years.

Wow, nice shot. Don't let the Rolexers see it, they might be jealous. They really haven't changed much over the years and most outside of the watch game probably can't tell them apart and that's the beauty of it a timeless design.

SMP Diver 300 has become an iconic watch over the last 30 years or so, I hope it retains its signature bracelet, the HEV, the skeleton hands, the scalloped bezel forever. It doesn't imitate a Submariner, nor does it try to be one. It is its own watch and that's what's most appealing about it. Would I like to see to improved movement, bezel action, a no date version, a matte variant and perhaps a lumed bezel? hell yes.. but I don't want the design to change, ever!

I started with the non-wave, gravitated towards the casino royale, then finally landed on the Brosnan as my favorite iteration.

There is just something about the latest gen that I do not like that I can't quite pin down, so looking forward to an eventual revision.

I was never a big fan of the wave dial, but it doesn't bother me on the new green SMP. Gorgeous watch IMO.

If we take the trend of the last three models, we鈥檙e looking at a 6-year period between updates.

If that鈥檚 the case, it鈥檒l be renewed in 2024 (which I think is the wise thing to do).

I hope Omega brings the new iteration soon. Just really curious what they would actually do with the line going into the future. Like people above said i would like something that commemorate 2531.80 as well. Please Omega!!

Maybe Omega takes a page out of the Aqua Terra playbook and changes the direction of the waves 馃榿

Me too, buddy. It's the most legit SMP of them all. 馃憤

"Brosnan" means the 2541.80 (quartz cal. 1538) or the 2531.80 (automatic cal. 1120), i.e. the first model with printed indices. Just in case anyone comes along who doesn't know it.

They need to bring back the non wave dial.
Disagree. It's not 'canon', and it overlaps with the PO. I maintain that the non-wave dial was a result of Omega wanting to upgrade the look, but lacked the tech necessary to make the waves a reality on the ceramic dials we see now. Pure speculation on my part, of course. Either way, getting rid of the waves is right up there with the He valve, sword hands, and bracelet style complaints; all four are iconic to the original design (and appeal) of the model, and should therefore always have a presence in subsequent iterations.

Agreed. Still the best version in my opinion. It鈥檚 thinner and smaller than the current version, dressier overall, and it has an applied logo and that gorgeous large hippocampus engraving on the case back. Pure class. I鈥檒l never sell mine.

I really like the newest version, but wish they kept the same dimensions as the previous generation. I didn't like the waves at first, but they aren't as noticeable as most pictures show. Sometimes they completely disappear.

The current SMP is the only one I like from the bunch. Slight bracelet taper, maybe lose the HEV since they did for POs and spruce up the 8800 because it's quite boring to look at, leave the rest as is.
