Newly noisy Speedy

I recently acquired my first Omega, a Speedmaster Moonphase. Love it.

The watch was essentially silent until a few days ago, when I adjusted the moonphase. Since then, there has been audible sound, and a much more noticeable physical sensation of movement, both of which come from the semicircular rotating component (sorry, still working on my terminology) that swings around with movement, and which os visible through the clear caseback and contains the “master co-axial” printing.
I took the Omega to a local watch specialist who said he hadn’t worked on this model, but opened it and said everything looked great inside, and maybe I just didn’t notice the noise/movement before. He refused to charge me anything. But I am certain that something is different, and I’d like to know if it’s different in a bad way. Thanks for any thoughts!

The swingy thingy is called the rotor.

It was nice of the local guy to not charge you and nice to know he had the good judgment to quit while he was ahead.

I strongly recommend you take it to an certified Omega watchmaker or dealer etc.

My initial thought is that it needs more lubrication. Which hints that it's time for a full service. Any idea when that was last done on your unit?

I'm sorry, I don't have any technical expertise to offer you on the subject. But there are those among us with vast knowledge. Hopefully they will chime in and offer better help.
