Newbie purchase

So, I've had my heart set on a 26.5 SOB. I was warned it will be small but I never expected it to be this small! Anyway, I'm happy with the condition that it's arrived in, almost looks too clean for a 1930's watch. Looks far cleaner than the pictures. I'm unsure if I've over paid for it (£350) but it's the style I liked so I went ahead.

I'm unsure of the model of this, I've tried and found many similar but not the same. Would anyone be able to shed some light on this please?

Here are the pictures from the ad as they're far better quality than I will be able to take on my phone camera.

I've now got the bug for another purchase!

I do like a subseconds dial too. If it is going to be a daily wearer maybe you didn’t overpay. But the movement is dirty, so it will need a service for sure, apx another £200?[/QUOTE]

Not sure how my reply ended up within the quote field, oh well.

Edit to say that if you don’t love it and plan to sell it, then do nothing, don’t service or clean it, just get it on eBay

I didn't originally intend on selling it but the size (or lack of) is off putting as it looks very feminine on my wrists!

I think I may end up losing quite a bit if I put it back on eBay

We’ve all bought watches that are too big or too small, at one time or another.

You can also try it on a bund strap, making it look larger, but hot in the summer

Wear it for a few days and you may get used to the size. Also wait for the colder season where long sleeves come into play- smaller watches don’t feel as small under sleeves and sweaters and are actually preferable- less bulk.
All 32-33mm on 7.5” wrist

And if you still can’t get used to it- single piece or Nato straps can bulk them up too
30-32mm

Nice wrist shot pics Jay Dubbya but ya gotta back your wrist away from the camera a bit further to be able to judge proportion. Those pics are all watch 😁

These small 30-31mm watches look terrific on bundt straps. They really stand out. I don't think you overpaid but there is a limited market for these watches that are often called boys size. They were super popular during the second world War. A 30mm Rolex victory, skyrocket or solar aqua is on my shopping list but they are an acquired taste.

This 31mm Hamilton Fleetwood is solid 14k and looks great with a suit. This is a different style than yours but sometimes less is more.View attachment 1030497
The long sleeve shirt is the key there. Wear a 31mm watch with short sleeves after wearing a Speedmaster all week and it feels like a dainty coin. Wear it under long sleeves for a week and it feels perfect within a few days. Throw on that Speedy again and it feels like you have grown a 40lb tumor on your arm.

33-38mm is the sweet spot for me. I have a few 42mm watches and wear them enough but I love the smaller watches from the 1940's to 60's.

This has become my zone as well over the last year. I rarely wore anything below 38 for years but as I wear more small watches they just feel so comfortable and unobtrusive. After wearing my sub 36mm watches for weeks I put on my 42x15mm high Tag a few weeks ago and within a minute put it into the door frame....watch was fine, can’t say the same for the wooden door frame.

As most, if not all my posts in WRUW show, I have a preference for 34/35 1960s watches but yesterday was bright and sunny and I thought it was ideal to dig out my cheerful modded Seiko

I couldn’t believe the weight of it, even without the steel bracelet, never mind the dimensions. It was like what I imagine wearing manacles is like.

It lasted over breakfast and then I had to put a smaller watch.

That's not a bad idea, I've not seen many 26.5 on a bund strap....hopefully they suit it. Thanks

Are you able to return it? If not, you could try trading it on the forum...
I bought it off ebay so would think so, would mean shipping it internationally though. I'll see how I feel about it in a few days as I like the style of it and condition.

Is there a four-digit number in the caseback?
No, the caseback is plain. Just has some number on the internal but I could only find out the year of production.
