Hi there, nice to meet you 😀
French guy here, this is a real pleasure to read you !
I would need some advices about a speedmaster 145.022-69 I bought last month. The watch is coming with a strap that seems odd to me. Endlinks are 575, the strap seems to be a 1116 (not sure) but the buckle is engraved with 1181/215. Is that possible ? Or is it a frankenstrap? Joining some pictures (sorry I don’t have macro mode)
Thanks for any help!
Have a good day

Bonjour Dunjour,
and welcome on OF. The endlinks 575 are correct for the 1116 bracelet that was delivered on Speedmasters in the years 1967 - 1972 aproximately. But the clasp or buckle is 1181 and i think it belongs to an H link bracelet like discussed in this thread ;

1116/575 appropriate for your watch and very comfortable IMO. Does the clasp work well? If so I would wear it and not worry about it. If it really bothers you over time you can find a clasp I’m sure.
OF member @masteroftime may be able to help
And let’s see the watch!

Thanks a lot for these fast and complete answers !
So, as I understand, both endlinks and strap are correct for the watch, but the clasp is not ?
By the way, here are some pictures of the watch (I am aware that the bezel could not be fully original, but the price was ok)

Yes the clasp works very good, so yeah I am going to follow your advice and don’t really care about it 😀

for your early serial number -69 speedy it would be nice to have a
dot over 90 bezel, as it was once the watch had been delivered

btw:

the 101 site has a mistake in relation to the correct bezel
for the later -69 (not importent for your watch)

You are right, I am currently looking for a legitimate one, but prices are very high and there are a lot of fakes

i didn't checked actually, but if yourbezel is a original Dot next to 70, the price for
this is aprox 40% from a DON - so it makes it easier

You have a correct bezel for your reference, if the movement serial number was slightly higher. IMO the watch looks great and is wonderfully wearable. Knowing that it originally came with DON bezel requires opening it up and seeing the SN. So like my comment about the clasp I would just wear and enjoy it. Get to know how it feels and how it works take your time. If it really bugs you and it’s worth the cost of buying a DON you can buy one. There is no substitute for wearing and getting your know a vintage Speedmaster.
