Hi folks, Looking for some help on an “updated” Speedmaster bracelet chart. This is the only one I have found recently but not sure how outdated it may be. *Side question* Can a 145.022-71 come on a 1039/516 bracelet combo? According to this chart, the answer is no but I suspect that is not the case which is why I’m looking for a new chart. Thanks in advance.
This particular example I am referring to is from 1974 so i thought it was out of range per the chart.
The chart pertains to years of the bracelet production. Not the year of the watch reference. Irregardless, I don't think very many 145.022-74 would have been fitted OEM with a 1039 bracelet. Most likely a 1171
Basically this, as at that point many watches got bracelets at the dealer and old stock could still be around.
Funnily enough I have the same dilema - recently purchased a145.022-71 (Prod yr '74) which came with a 1171 / 633 bracelet. I prefer a 1039 / 516 so wondered if that combination could have been period correct. Searching ebay I found an example of a 145.022-71 - production year 1974 with a 1039 attached. The Archive extract states the Bracelet that was fitted was a 1039 / 516 So there is at least one 1974 Speedy that Omega says was fitted with the flat link bracelet. Now do we start to question the authenticity of Archive extracts as per the Phillips Auction post https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-V...2-71-Step-Dial-1039-516-Bracelet/173587129090Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network EDIT: Watch also listed on here https://omegaforums.net/threads/1974-omega-speedmaster-145-022-71-step-dial-1039-516-bracelet.83876/
Not all areas had bracelets from the factory. So many extracts from this period do not note bracelets, as it was dealer added. Also what’s the date on the auction extract? Hint there is a reason why that’s important.
Well either that auction house is allowed to play games with extracts again or we have an interesting anomaly. I wasn’t aware US speedmasters where delivered on bracelets at that point. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can chime in.
Do you have any evidence that speedmasters were sold head only, and that customers could take their pick from whatever bracelets the dealer had in stock at the time? I'm sorry, but I've never bought into that line of thought. And no, I'm not claiming to be more knowledgeable than you, I'm just curious.
Well we know Mexico and a large store in Texas did not ship with bracelets and JM contracted Holtzer to make bracelets for them and holtzer made them for Mexico. I thought it was accepted that watches shipped head only in many areas until the late 70’s.
I've got an extract for my -69 SW that says it came on 1175/640. I don't seem to have a pic of but will see if I can dig out the paperwork. I think the younger the watch, the more info may be in the archives.
