i had a fresh look through eBay today and the only things that caught my eye in my price range were actually the 269 and the seamaster linked above but I'm hesitant with the 2 o'clock crack, although i like the look of it on the face. i also saw this, but think it may be over priced and its a little difficult with the photos to see the scratches http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-1...017712?hash=item3f673d69f0:g:gSUAAOSw9N1Vx1GI

any thoughts appreciated!

I don't know about the ebay Seamaster above. It may be perfectly ok but the fact that he has another watch with much better photos makes me wonder why these are so bad. The other watch is a redial despite his "factory original dial" claim, so that's not a brilliant omen.

Re the one for sale here, allowing for it's having been serviced I think the price is not unfair. It all looks ok to me but as I've said my knowledge is not that in-depth. The 562 movement does not have the quickset date mechanism of the 564, so that you have to wind the hands back beyond 12 then wind them forward to advance the date. For collectors with a dozen watches this is a bit of a pain, but if this is the only watch you are going to wear you should only have to do that five times a year.

Have finally decided you'll be glad to hear! I think I'm going to go for the 269 for £450. It looks good condition, has a nice age to it, seems to be genuine and I love the finish on the face and the extra dial detail. I know it's not a named one but I love the style of it. Although I'm kind of worried it'll start him off collecting omegas haha! Thank you all for your help

Congratulations!

I've been following your conversation with Edward53 with great interest. I'm glad you've found something that looks right!

I hope you'll report back to us how it's received!
