New to the forum and first OMEGA

Hello my name is Gil and this is my first post and my first OMEGA watch. I've been lingering around the forum to get a feel of things. I'm an auto enthusiast and have my heart set on an OMEGA chronostop drivers watch (driver not diver). I tried to purchase one on eBay and it quickly shot above $1k. So I'm new to watches don't really know the ins and outs so that's why I'm here. So when I stumbled across this OMEGA on EB and the price was in range I went for it. From the web and this forum I gathered it's a 23.4sc in a 4044 case. What caught my eye was that he dial was shifted 90 deg like the driver. My question is if this was a true design of this era? I haven't received the watch yet, all I have are the EB pics. Thanks in advance.

It would seem that it's likely that the dial feet have come off - somehow - and someone has affixed the dial (probably using self-adhesive dial pads) at a 90 degree offset. Perhaps they thought it looked like a driver's watch or something. The two examples of the ref 4044 have the dial orientation in the usual way, so I'd warrant that this is some sort of fudge.
The dial feet can be repositioned, they can be re-soldered, although typically by a specialist dial finishing company rather than a watchmaker, as they have the specialist soldering equipment. You obviously can't use heat to re-solder them once the dial is finished, so there are various electric and/or laser soldering rigs to do the job.

My OMEGA came in today from England. It's a bit smaller than what I was expecting but the seller did state it was 28mm. I'm learning the ropes. I've mounted it on a wide leather band and it looks pretty cool.
