Super impressed. I think Tag is really getting it and getting great. Wonderful bezel and dial. Superb legibility. Polishing great. Magic clasp and tapered bracelet. Packaging is top notch.
Looks nice but I still can’t get to grips why they used the Autavia name on a non chronograph watch...
Between the past and the future It is no coincidence that TAG Heuer has chosen the Autavia collection as the basis for a new line of watches, along with collections such as Carrera, Monaco, Formula 1, Aquaracer and Link. From 1933 to 1957, Autavia watches were produced specifically for the dashboard of racing cars and airplanes. The name itself comes from a combination of the words automobile and aviation. At the end of the production of mechanisms for instrument panels, the general director of the manufactory, Jack Hoare, decided to use the Autavia brand as the name of the new wrist chronograph – the Swiss watch manufacturer introduced it in 1962. Autavia was incredibly popular among racing drivers and the military until the end of its production in 1985. Autavia re-appears on the market as a separate collection of seven models designed in the spirit of adventurism.
