New Speedmasters: Is 44,25mm to big for daily wear?

Bingo! I'm the guy who spent my entire life thinking that spending more than $50.00 on a watch was absolutely ridiculous. Then I succumbed to an (entry level) Seamaster about five weeks ago. A couple of weeks later I added a Speedmaster. Now I'm waiting on my new Seamaster chronograph to arrive. So much for my life-plan....

I pretty much did the opposite. I bought a bunch of watches to figure out which watch I wanted, and then, once I figured it out, I started selling everything else off.

I've always loved the idea of wearing one watch for everything.

I'm actually early in that process. My Sea-Chrono comes on Thursday. I'm thinking that will end up being my daily. Right now my blue Seamaster is the fave, but I miss the chrono function of the Speedy when I'm wearing it. But when I wear the Speedy I miss having the date window. And I play a little rough so I'm always afraid of dinging the hesalite crystal. So with the new arrival I'm hoping to be in love and willing to pass on my others. We'll see....

I very much respect and admire the zen simplicity of the one watch guy approach, but right now I am still enjoying the phase of putting together a collection piece by piece. Each watch below has been carefully selected for a specific role and so far none have been flipped.

This might though just be the calm before the storm and perhaps a reflection that I have not reached a level of watch collection maturity where I really am able optimize and focus more on just a few...I do think I should be able to get down to three watches eventually...or perhaps six...OK eight is the limit.馃檮

But...right now the next incoming the ST and perhaps later on the Orange/Black Speedy Racing is calling...found this picture on another forum, can't recall the guy's name, but love the casual/cool look of the Speedy Racing here:

I have to admit that both of these could be considered completely superfluous...but they do fill specific niches: ST - Hesalite Moonwatch, Speedy Racing - Racing inspired automatic chronograph with modern movement....and then Superdoc had to post this gorgeous picture of a new Grand Seiko GMT馃グ.....

Well, that's certainly a fantastic collection of watches. I guess, for me, I could wear most of them in all situations. Even that awesome Reverso could be considered an old-school sports watch, although I'd probably only wear it with a suit (which I rarely wear.)

I'm just a singular kind of guy. I prefer using one camera with one lens, one guitar, one car, etc...although all of them required trying and buying quite a few to narrow down what I wanted.

Either way, that new black and orange Speedy is a really, really great looking watch.

Thanks for the feedback on the collection!馃榾

Certainly agree with the "one guitar"...still playing my lefty strat purchased in San Diego yr 2000...but then again that might also be down to the challenge of finding left handed guitars in any guitar shop...I suppose not having many choices can sometimes make life easier馃榾
