Why did I suspect that this thread was gonna get weird from the get-go?

Also, who takes new photos of their new watch but crops the money-shot photo (the dial)?

Weren’t there some questions as to the authenticity of the OP’s Rolex Submariner awhile ago?

I don’t know how to c/p a link to old posts, but the thread was entitled “Finally got my grail”.

Yes, and the thread can be found here
https://omegaforums.net/threads/finally-got-my-grail.150702/

In addition that that watch, I believe a few other watches they share in the wruw thread are also fake. With the suspiciously tight photo of the dial (compared to the others), being vague about where they found an unworn sapphire 1861, and shrugging off receiving the wrong watch, I have a sneaking suspicion this was purchased knowingly.

Why bother show off a fake to a house of nerds? Just wear it and enjoy. No story needed.

OP likes the OF dramas, it seems.

Damn it. My wife is right. Guys ARE idiots.

Here's the thing for me...

the OP has a consistent MO here on OF (can a single sentence have more abbreviations?).
Post a hype/buzz like title (no harm, many do otherwise what the fυck - maybe no one will read it after all) -- "Finally Got My Grail", "MoonSwatch Movement in A Speedmaster Case" and this latest one.
But this latest one was already a murky swamp of What The fυck from the needle drop ~ he's getting a 3861 but it's gonna be sapphire with a solid caseback, then he more or less disappears with all the confusion and questions from members who know that ain't possible (if it's legit that is)... then the big day comes and the post is a garbled explanation of total horseshit ~ it's now an 1861, seller sent him a closed caseback but with hesalite, yada yada, but he's cool with it (same MO as the jive Rolex/Grail thread ~ and as usual, he's always fine with it). And then the photos... OP, I suspect, put more time into purposefully taking shitty, out of focus, photos - not to mention the crops - than the actual purchase itself.

All to whit I say this (and usually don't say this publicly but)... outside of known assholes and scammers (which usually get the axe speedy quick with our group vigilance and attentive Mods here), new folks who either pop in for "What Do I Have?" type questions & either split or occasionally stay and become regulars, we are a fairly tight knit group... but shit like this irks the piss out of me because it's glib, playing folks off as assholes, stupid childish attention seeking trickery and frankly pure bullshit.

OP either needs to be and admit to being the most naive motherfucker on earth with purchases (which he ain't) or flatout say "Yeah, I buy fakes" (for whatever reason) BUT STOP with the whole posting bullshit and then vaguely answering questions and otherwise going radio silent... it's disingenuous and uncool.

Okay, said my thing -- going back to cologne shopping.

Seems to me our guy is “like” farming. I guess you can get laid showing off your “likes”, in his local clubs. I’d lie my ass off if it’s true. I’m telling ya @SC1, OP knows something we don’t.

Regardless, I’m swinging by after work. Who knows…

I will say the 4 pics posted sure are a strange selection of photos to show off a new purchase.

I always try to follow the $. My guess is to try to sell the watch on some online platform, and link to an OF (or other online forum) post with a bunch of "bro" back-pats, thereby legitimizing the watch.

We've become his laundromat.

Not many bro back-pats in this one though...

So many in the WRUW thread though

This fake Submariner (next to a real one)

This Breitling with confused sub dials. Ad for reference.

This ceramic Speedmaster racing that is only shared at obscured angles, with issues that are obvious when next to a real one.

A MoonSwatch Mission to the Moon that looks like it was mixed with Mission to Mercury. Dial colors all wrong, case plastic almost looks translucent, pusher caps are the wrong size, and the crown is super long. Complete with fake "Speednaster" strap. Real for comparison.

And these posts were shared in several threads on St. Patrick's day...

A lot of deception and "like farming" going on.

I must say, I found it weird that someone would sort of forget they had left a Kermit laying around the house. I chalked it up to false modesty.

But who in their right mind would snug up an unprotected watch movement to a watch box pillow? It'd be like throwing a handful of sand into the carburetor air intake of a fine car.

The last Rolex is clearly fake. Regulating pins on a 3135?

Smacks of the hamster guy posting his pics off the web, can't remember his name. @STANDY will remember, I think he was the one that outed him.

@killer67 ? They were using other members images as their own in the WRUW thread for like farming.

My dad went to Syracuse University with Peter... became a friend and then at the height of his Columbo fame invited us to dine with him at the Brown Derby when we were out in California.
I was very young but the memory of the night was/is wonderful -- he was super nice and very funny as the martinis were consumed.
