·While visiting Huntsville Alabama this weekend I visited an Omega AD there. In conversation, the manager mentioned that he understood that Omega was staging an event at the Davidson Center for Space Exploration (part of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center) to announce the 50th Anniversary Speedmaster. He said that it was planned to occur "in a couple of weeks". He also said that the new Speedy would carry the 321 movement (contradicting previous statements made when the 321 restart was announced).
The Davidson Center houses many Apollo era artifacts including a full Saturn V rocket, the Apollo 16 Command Module, and many others. Marshall Spaceflight Center on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville was home to Werner Von Braun and the team that developed the Saturn V. All in all, a plausible area for Omega to announce the new Speedy.
A second rumor was that the new Speedy would only be offered by the AD to customers that have previously purchased Speedmasters through that AD. That particular rumor seemed to me to be a blatant attempt to sell me something in the moment to secure my place in line.
As with all rumors -- take with a big grain of salt!
