Hello everyone,

I was lucky enough to pick up the new 3861 speedmaster professional hesalite over the weekend. It's an amazing watch, and such a welcome upgrade. I noticed a few days after purchase that the crystal had two scratches on it, both located near the inscribed omega logo at the center of the dial.

I have attached a picture showing one of the scratches (to the left of the 20 minute counter). The picture was taken in the omega store prior to my buying of the watch. I have not worn the watch since buying it, so I know I did not put the scratches on the crystal.

I know it is not a big deal, and I know I can buff out the scratches with polywatch. It is just a bummer to spend so much money on a new watch and have it be scratched by somebody else before you even wear it. Let me know what you guys think, if I am overreacting, and what you would do in this situation. Thanks!

3 minutes with Polywatch. You have chosen Hesalite and in normal use you will get micro scratches and potentially worse.

Relax, it's an - expensive - tool watch!

Nothing to worry about since it's Hesalite and one way or another you will scratch it too soon. Nothing to worry you will polish it off.. Now if the scratch was on the bezel that would have been a problem. 👍

Hard to imagine a Hesalite crystal getting scratched......what’s next?? Having to wind a manual moonwatch??

I guess that's why I took the easy way out, ordered my new 3861 with the Sapphire which comes with the exhibition back so I can " watch while I wind"
I plan to daily wear the new one, so should make life a bit easier as I'm somewhat OCD about scratches.

Just don’t drop it on concrete or smack it hard against a doorframe. If you do, you might end up wishing that you had purchased the hesalite version instead.

For a new watch costing 6k this is not acceptable, actually it should not be acceptable in any watch disregard the value as you are buying NEW from an AD.
You are the first one to scratch thats fine, I did with mine but when I got it it was in pristine new condition, I would be pissed too but as others said it can be easily removed and it will look like never happened.

Another option is to take the watch back to the AD and have them polish out the scratch. They should be able to do it while you wait.

If the Hesalite was available with the display back, I would have seriously considered it. I guess every option comes with advantages and drawbacks.

This is exactly what I was actually thinking 5 years ago when I dropped my sapphire 3539.50 😵‍💫

Hi.
I had a similar problem with my new Speedmaster 321. My local Omegs boutique called me earlier this year to see if I was interested in the new 321. of course i had. The watch caught me and I was looking forward to taking it with me. But in the light of the boutique, I saw a slight reflection on the inside of the sapphire crystal. very very small, maybe less than half a millimeter in size. I asked the watchmaker to take a look at the watch, the saleswoman thought I was crazy, but he confirmed my suspicions under the magnifying glass, a metal chip thinner than the diameter of a hair. He shook the watch lightly and the chip fell on the dial. the employees of the boutique found this imperfection very uncomfortable. Of course, I left the watch in the boutique and was promised that it would be sent to the revision in Switzerland and that I will get it as soon as it will be back.
Only ohne week later I was called again and I was able to buy a new Speedmaster 321, not the same as I saw 1 week ealier.
You should therefore inspect the watch carefully in the shop so as not to experience any unpleasant surprises. Even if I had only noticed the flaw in the watch at home, I assume that Omega would have repaired the watch on goodwill bit you never know.

Mine came with a little bit of moondust at 10'clock.
Something normal for Omega.
I just have a quick question. Yours came with the white tag? I see everywhere on unboxing videos but not in my box.
Thank you!

You should go back. It bothers you and it will affect your relationship with your shop. It's not fair to them either as they won't know what they did wrong without you telling them. The conversation can simply be that you understand it's not a big deal but you are disappointed as you wanted that new watch buying experience. Give them the opportunity to apologize. They sell watches. They understand, probably more so than any customer. It's their profession. Hate to say it, it might have come from the factory like that too. Whatever, if you are thinking about it enough to bring it up here, you should talk with them. IMHO.

The first scratch is always the hardest. After that, they're like goals in a match. The more the better. Great watch!

I don't know why they haven't released another hesalite sandwich. Too busy not making enough Snoopy's I suppose.
