So my wife surprised me on my birthday. She caught me totally off guard. Here are some cell phone pics in full sunlight, the best way to view the dial, in my opinion.

Congrats! Thanks for the pictures. Do not hesitate to share your thoughts after you have used it for a few week! Thanks!

What a fantastic surprise! Congratulations!

Excellent job capturing the overall character of the dial.

I have never really been fond of the look of the Railmaster till the anniversary set came around. I'm not sure I like the hands on this model

Hi all

I was drawn to this watch by the strap. Kept seeing it on the wall displays in airports so yesterday I went to see it properly. Really liked it but was also drawn to the silver face version with the leather strap. So I went for a combo. Got it on today. Really comfortable. Love the look.
A couple of photos below.

Thanks for all the comments!
Yes, I think she's a keeper. It's actually the second watch she's bought me. She got me a Ti PO for my 40th.
It's a great watch, very subdued and unassuming. I wear it with a suit, although it would probably pair a little better with a nice leather strap. It's perfect for casual wear on the nylon strap. Light weight, and slim profile.
Here's a collection shot.
I'm holding out for a Speedy Pro for my 50th.. haha

That's a very nice collection of Omegas you have there. I especially like the Connie. Is that a 168.005?

I like the way you captured the dial colors in your original post. I swear it looks blue in one and gray in another. It appears to be quite a chameleon.

Congratulations.

I'm surprised at all the love here. My first impression was that the dial was rather flat and uninspiring. With everything printed and nothing applied, it is a bit plain. I've got a thing for applied logos at the moment.

I also thought the all brushed case and bracelet was a little too plain. There's certainly nothing flashy here.

I don't mind the crosshairs. I wish the vertical ones were a little longer, maybe extending to the 12 and 6 more.

I guess they were really going for understated tool watch.

I had missed the blue jeans model for Basel this year. It is pretty cool, but I'm not sure about the leather seconds hand. Maybe it is better in person. <rant> It seems like all people could talk about was the the (not) new Pepsi GMT from Rolex. Seriously...???? A different bezel color and the world goes in a tizzy. The Rolex bug just hasn't found me yet... </rant>

I tried this one one back in January in Atlanta. I'm looking for thinner. This one seems not a thick as other coaxials but it was still a bit on the thick side.

Side by side with the 36mm older version compared to the newer on the right. The older version was more comfortable and classic, but the dial on the new one is pretty cool how it plays in the light. The main draw back for me was the faux vintage patina look. I just have a hard time with it on new watches

I don't think of the lume as "faux patina", I look at it more as a shade that compliments the brushed dial and case overall. I think bright white lume would be distracting. When I want to wear something that reflects a lot of light, I wear the PO. There are dozens of facets on the dial that reflect the light in all directions. Not to mention the shiny bezel.

The Connie is a 14900 62 SC. I found it at a jeweler in Buenos Aires. It was in amazing condition and came with the original BOR bracelet, which doesn't have a scratch on it.

I visited the Omega shop at Frankfurt airport and looked at it..(didn't try it on) ...at 9999 Euros it's hard to justify the price. now a nice vintage speedy for the same price is another matter entirely....

At 9999 Euros???

This is a US$4.9K -5K watch....perhaps a typo in your post?

Still agreed that when you compare this Railmaster with other Omegas in the US$5-6K range (e.g new Seamaster 300, new Aqua Terra), it does seem expensive for printed dial with no applied indices or logos, no exhibition case back and just a brushed finish.

Nevertheless, I would still consider buying the blue dial version if it sings to me on the wrist...this new Railmaster product line has a tough no BS / no bling look that has its own specific appeal.

Interesting that the new Railmaster does seem to be performing better in terms of grey market depreciation, compared with other Omega watches. Chrono24 mean price seems to be above US$4K, i.e. less than 20% grey market depreciation, when most grey market Omegas are sold at 30%-40% discount (ref. OB retail pricing).

Of course this is still below Rolex value retention, but still a positive for an Omega watch.

I think omega should produce watch with more luxury look than this one, given their price tag and brand name. This new railmaster look like typical cheap teenage watches with omega logo on it or comparable to daniel wellington level. Any swiss watches below 1k USD can easily outshine this one. Aqua terra is perfect example of what they should be focusing on.
Previous version of railmaster photo posted by padders in this thread definitely looks better.
