the change 39->42 happened around 2000. Lots of eyebrows were raised at that time.

Not sure what you're talking about. The first Professional models with the 42mm case appeared in 1963-64; the last straight-lug watches were produced in 1967 with maybe a few still produced in 68. But the bezel has been the same size since the beginning in 1957, and there was no change in the models in 2000. The previous major change was to the movement, the upgrade from the 861 to the 1861, in 1996.

I like these a lot. More visually interesting (if complex) than the 9300-based Speedy I owned, nearly 4mm thinner, hand-wound and a decently long power reserve. If my Snoopy fails to materialize, one of these may be my next step.

Man, that bar must be low if you would jump on one of these if you don't get your Snoopy. There are so many recent Speedmasters more attractive than the Chronoscope, but beauty .......

I like the overall look of these a lot, particularly the blue dial and the "bronze". I just wish my wrist was 10% bigger, or the watch 10% smaller... and will ultimately reserve my size judgement until I see it in real life. Appreciate that Omega is at least bringing out some new lines (albeit based on retro ideas) even if not all of them will resonate with enthusiasts or customers.

Excellent...looks like Omega heard all the grumblings about the lack of this......I guess I'll be going to the OB next week to order the micro adjust clasp.

Looks the same size so should be able to swap out the one from my 3861 Moonwatch with this one....

Heard it through the grapevine a micro-adjust update of the 3861 clasp is work in progress and will be made available for current owners.

You're right. It's an abomination. I see that now.

Did the grapevine also mention a micro-adjust update for the 1861 clasp? 😉 🙄

correct this is it.....the Chronoscope bracelet goes from 21mm and tapers down to 16mm at the clasp like the 3861.....so this micro adjust clasp can be used on the 3861....we just have to buy it and swap it out.....wish the micro adjustment was longer vs the reported 1/2 of a link, but beggars can't be choosers.....

I'll be going to the OB early next week after work to order it.....will let everybody know how it goes.....if someone has the part number & price feel free to post so the visit can go smoothly.....probably when it comes in, I'll ask the OB to swap it out.....

I emailed my OB just now inquiring about the clasp and its availability. I’ll update this, if and when I hear back from them. Fingers crossed!

I don't get the watch, a vintage dial with a case shape that is much later. I dig the applied hour numbers and I bet that looks great in person, but the lugs are just too heavy for a vintage-inspired piece. The Bronze/Gold works a little better but is still not a hit in my book. These are going to be like the Hb-Sia and just sit in the range unsold and silently disappear. (The Hb-Sia is actually kinda cool and I think the carbon fiber seemed a bit too gimmicky but is still a great looking watch)

I'm talking about a dedicated one.

Bronze gold one, I'm not gonna lie, I don't dislike it. Liking the Nutella vibe!

Modern or vintage, this kind of dial would never be for someone with my eyesight. Lots here that I think shows thoughtfulness, but the case decision feels like the outcome of a corporate feud.

Umm no. It was in 1963 or so. The change to the professional case with crown guards.
