Hopefully a teaser of "things-to-come" as the current Heritage team knows that some things on display must be corrected & updated...
Interesting that Petros is saying that the watch he is showing was worn outside Cernan's suit and his speculation as to how the crystal was damaged is quite interesting to hear. This topic has been hashed over numerous times now. The 105.003 in the video was the watch Cernan is seen wearing on the JB Champion with the face rotated inwards under his wrist. Since Cernan says he wore it on the moon there is no doubt that he did but it was inside his suit while on the lunar surface. The watch Cernan wore on the exterior of his suit was the 105.012-66 that currently resides in the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida.
Moreover, there's always a bigger chance to bump the hesalite into the multitude of toggle switches and handles in such a tiny cockpit, after all the CSM was a tiny space for 3 persons. Cernan was mostly seen wearing his wristwatch on the inner side of his wrist, probably to avoid bumping it into some cockpit hardware, be it T-38, Gemini or Apollo capsule...
There'll be some amazing events in Switzerland, I even heard about a Saturn V heavy-lift launch vehicle on real 100% scale... A total of 15 flight-capable 111 meter high Saturn V vehicles were built, but only 13 were flown... However the one on display would be made of inflatable stages... a special event to celebrate 50 years Apollo 11 ! Can't wait to hear more news about the opening of the renewed/revamped Omega museum in Bienne ...
I know it's all been well documented but I just stumbled on a little bit of light reading with regard to the Omega Speedmaster helping to get the Apollo 13 crew back home: https://www.forbes.com/sites/anthon...speedmasters-14-seconds-of-fame/#630c04c029b5
Hopefully this spacesuit gets a corrective update ( red stripes for Cernan or completely white for Armstrong or Aldrin ) BTW note the Apollo 11 crew photo on the right... .
Maybe March or April 2019? "Omega has been keeping very busy. Lots of things going on. I was at Omega for over a week in Late October, and I just returned for another week at the Omega factory in Biel. We are working on a lot for next year and also next year we will finally get the new Museum open at the factory in Biel. It looks like about March or April. You may have heard Omega and the Swatch Group has pulled out of Baselword because the tremendous cost and it looks like that may put an end to Baselworld. It looks like next year Omega will do events all over the world instead. My question is are you still interested in letting your case back project be displayed at the new Omega museum?"
Late March, early April 2019 seems right given their Zurich event 23-26th March... A good reason to enjoy 2019 Easter holidays in Bienne Switzerland
I understand the renewed Omega museum will be located 300 meters away from the current in the Gottstattstrasse near the Omega mast ? .
The local newspapers have been invited to see the new building Here's the newspaper pics: https://www.bernerzeitung.ch/wirtsc...onjunktur/das-neue-swatch-haus/story/14017204 The square building in Pic 5/10 and 9/10 will house the new museum on the second floor (if I remember correctly) The name of the road has been changed to honour Nicolas G.
