New Omega - Crown

Hi Omega Forum,

I purchased an Omega Seamaster for my wife today. It’s our first Omega. We have Rolex, Tag & Rado watches.

Something that is different from those watches with the Omega. We changed the time using the crown - pushed the crown back in and it does not click into place or hold still after winding.. The Crown continues to move unlike other watch brands where they stop moving when in place…

Is this normal for Omega watches?

Thanks in advance.

Which model of Seamaster? Most current models (300, 300M, Planet Ocean, Aqua Terra) should have screw down crowns. So, after pushing the crown back in, you have to push it a bit further to catch the threads and then screw it down.

Here’s a link to the video manual for the caliber 2500 Seamaster diver that shows the crowns operation:

Do your other watches have screwdown crowns? I would expect that the Rolex probably does.

Based on the specifications you posted, this model doesn't have a screw-down crown. Not all water-resistant watches do; I have a dressier model of Seamaster that has a standard crown, although the water resistance rating on that one is for 60m rather than 150m. In any case, it looks like your new watch is functioning as designed.
