New Omega custodian

Firstly hello to you all. I have been lucky enough to be gifted a vintage Omega watch from a member of the family who is deceased. We believe it is from around the 50s. I obviously should have read point 5 about getting a professional to open the back, before opening myself. Hopefully I haven’t knackered anything.

It is such a lovely watch I wanted to get some more info date, general info (intrigued by the numbers etched inside the back).

Servicing. It hasn’t been worn for ~40years and wound it up and it kept pretty much perfect time!! Should I get it serviced and is this something that should go to Omega (or are there other specialists that would be better). Also am I going to have to sell a kidney??

and some guidance on strap (ie what should it have).

Any help/information would be amazing.

Hopefully the pictures are good enough quality (did have some fun with lighting and reflections!)

Thanks in advance

It’s best to get it serviced by a local independent watchmaker rather than Omega, ideally someone Omega certified with a parts account, it will be a lot cheaper than a factory service

…Get it serviced, it deserves that.
As mentioned above, preferably not by Omega, but a watchmaker with good reputation

No, its much older - most probably from the early 40ies going by the movement serial#.
Checking the hallmarks in the case back may help to narrow down the timeframe but this is the "legwork" for you 😀
BTW it has a 9K gold Dennison case produced in the UK.

Case hallmark is 1941 so spot on with early 40s. Cheers

A beautiful watch that has probably been well maintained. Enjoy learning about it and I suggest you follow the advice given above.
