To be fair, I think this is one of the best images of the watch. If you zoom right in, I also think @JwRosenthal 's image (post 2) is spot on-down to the bakelite bezel, text on the dial and bracelet.馃憤
Image was a web-grab but I am accepting gifts if anyone feels like sending one like that my way. Or I鈥檒l settle for a 5513 since we have established that the Tissot is the real bond watch with more screen time 馃槈

Just in case anyone is still following this thread, or perusing with a little more time on their hands than usual. Off the back of this thread.. THIS was inevitable I'm afraid....

Bracelet will follow in due course...
Stay safe, Steve

I guess we all need a small push to convince ourselves sometimes 馃槈
Enjoy the beautiful watch!

@321Only - looks like you've inspired last week's TBT on Fratello -well done 馃榾

#TBT The Rolex Submariner Vs. The Underrated Bond Tissot PR-516 Watch (fratellowatches.com)

There an interesting continuity error, of sorts. One minute, Bond is using his Rolex to try to snag a boat, to effect his escape from the jaws of certain death:

Jump to 4m 19s:

Then a few minutes later, he's haring around in a boat being chased by the baddies, this time wearing his Tissot:

jump to 10m 19s:

I have a 46622 - the day & date version:

Which, I'm somewhat ashamed to say, I bought only because of the bracelet it came on, as I wanted the correct bracelet for my PR 516 chronograph...

Two additional behind the scenes photos that sho the watch.
I think @JwRosenthal is right spotting a PR 516 馃榾

The chap on the left in that photo is Albert "Cubby" Broccoli, the producer of the Bond films. The whole concept was a collaboration between him, David Salzman, and my father, Norbert Auerbach, who was reading Ian Fleming's Bond books at the time, and who brought Sean Connery on board.

I mention this b/c it was my father who first sparked my interest in watches, as he was a casual collector himself, and gave me my first proper watch (a Heuer 2000 Professional) for my 15th birthday (still have it, still runs). Here's a couple of pics of the Moonraker premier with Cubby, Roger, and the Bond girls (I'm the little guy in the space suit) and, of course, the Heuer:

On the "Live and Let Die" PR516 is it only the top of the watch that should have a brushed finish and the sides polished?
The watch looks gorgeous by the way.

Bit late in replying to your post, but I think this has to be the coolest thing I've read and seen here since joining the OF a few years ago.
Thanks so much for sharing! 馃憥

Growing up, Roger Moore was my favorite James Bond. Therefore I had to get Moore's Tissot, but there was only one problem: I like time-only watches! So I like to think this is a "Bond watch adjacent" PR 516, reference 41554 馃槈

Does the bezel spin on these watches and if so is it in just one direction or are the purely visual?

These have bi-directional bezels that are friction fitted, so no satisfying clickety-clacks.

Another question!
What straps were most popular / available options at the time? Are they an 18mm or 19mm strap? I guess it depends on whether leather or steel?

Agree I think Roger Moore was my favourite bond too!

They're a 19mm strap/bracelet.
Here is mine.

A very nice looking watch - I do like them with straps as well as bracelets - infact I'm not sure what I prefer!

I stuck mine on a rally strap which adds to the 1970s vibe - just love the blue dial

Suits it!

Is there a quick way to adjust the date on these?

Not really, I generally don鈥檛 bother. You just have to go back and forth to advance the date
