Welcome aboard. You'll be well served by hanging around the "Vintage Omega" board. I got started by buying a pie pan Connie and paid the newbie tax on it. If I'd been smart and come here and learned more before I bought I would have saved some money.

I don't aspire to become a collector in the traditional sense. I appreciate many aspects of wrist watches but at the end of the day I consider them fashion accessories and can't imagine owning one that I am not willing to wear. No offense or judgement towards anyone who feels differently, I just thought it was useful to share my take on it.
Welcome and good point there, I too think that watches are made to be worn, but I'm not judging anyone thinking otherwise. To me also the mechanics and the history/provenance of a watch are big part of the appeal, I'm foremost a vintage type of hobbyist.

Well that’s cool you picked a particular watch and a particular reasonable price for it (meaning that’s what they go for) so I hope it comes to pass for you. Seems like an achievable goal as you present it. I think it is of benefit to be of single mind when seeking such an object. I have done that with a few things and it worked out. Even if it took me a year to get a certain thing it was fine. It appears I like being all over the place now just seeing what I like with little care for popularity or resale but I’m noticing a lot of nice things for sale lately and I think it may be time to do what you are doing and focus on one thing. So good on you get that moon watch and enjoy.

Since a couple of folks have recently resurrected this thread, I figure it’s worth updating the state of the collection.

The first new addition was identified here by the great @JwRosenthal who connected me with @140dave who ends up living near me and helped me acquire my first Moonwatch.

Speaking of J-Dubs, my second new addition came from an opportunity to lighten his load. I regularly troll the thread of good deals on watches that aren’t Omegas or UGs so when he offered up his Fortis I couldn’t pass it up.

Next, I acquired a previously owned but barely used Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 outside of this forum. It’s got a fun dial, wasn’t very expensive (well under retail), and is a ton of quality to go anywhere and do anything.

Finally and most recently (as in earlier today), I received a nice little F300 from @Toishome

I still have plans for a few pieces that are more long term. Most notable, as I posted in the “single brand three watch collection” thread, I would like to add a 105.012 for my 50th, and between now and then I hope to add a 2538.20 “Great White” as well as a 231.10.39.21.03.001 “Skyfall” Aqua Terra.

I couldn’t justify this wall of text without a photo, so here you go.

I did! I’m so excited about it. I set the date to the third because the date window is at three o’clock 😀 now I want to find a bold red strap to bring out the logo on the dial

Not sure if that’s 18mm or 19mm lugs, but I have this strap and it goes great in watches with red second hands or tracks to bring out the red. And the grey suede dresses down a dressier watch nicely.

I notice that watch box has five open slots available …

That didn't take long. Enablers unite here on OF.

To the OP, nice collection and welcome to OF.
