New Marstimer X-33 issues?

Hi all,

newbie post here. I have a Hesselite Speedmaster, the No Time To Die 300M, The Seamaster Worldtimer and I have just in the last few days bought an X-33 Marstimer.

I have set the UTC time and T1 the same as UTC and T2 as UTC +3

the last couple of mornings, the hands are a different time slightly to UTC. I have pulled the crown to synchronise the hands and the seconds hand is generally 15 seconds behind. Is this normal? Should I be pulling the crown to put the watch in to low power mode when not wearing?

I have resolved this by entering ITC and syncing the hands the last two mornings but surely I shouldn’t have to do that every morning?

Any advice (before I call the AD) appreciated.

Stuart

I’ve had my x33 Marstimer for around 3 weeks now (love it) and haven’t had to reset or change the time. / hands since initially set up. I did have to align the hands in standby mode to sync initially but since then the hands and digital time are perfect. I’ve toggled between various time zones including mars time. Have set the hands to tidy and also set them to mars time and when returning to T1 they align correctly.

Thanks. I’ve just had the watch in standby mode and the seconds hand is out of synch again. Also, when I go into standby mode the seconds hand is five seconds out of synch which the hour and minute hands. When reset the seconds hand doesn’t seem to want to synch or move. Really odd.

The older generations have a process that may be used to sych the hands if they become out of synch (usually only after a battery swap, not after coming out of sleep mode). I know the movements are different, but it stands to reason, there would be a similar process on the Marstimer.

If you haven't attempted that process, (or aren't familiar with it) trying looking into that possibility.

Thanks @duc but as stated, I have re synched the hands numerous times at this stage. I just re synched the hands again, set UTC time, and went from T1 back to UTC and the second hand is still not in synch with the digital readout. I then went back to synch mode and the seconds hand is back out of synch. However much I love the watch, this is a really disappointing experience.

Bad luck for sure. I am sure Omega will make it right. Over the long haul, once its back from a servicing, you will put the bad experience out of your mind.

In the meantime, would you mind posting a picture or two of that bad boy on your wrist? I'm dying see some photos other than the marketing snaps.

Here you go @duc.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the watch and have wanted one since it was released. There’s a 5 year warranty so it will get sorted.

Probably I’m saying something wrong / idiot because I’m not an owner but only have read the manual in PDF for fun.
Yes I did it 😗
Can I ask if your issue pops up only when you light up the digital display?
I’m asking because I think that when the user lights up the dial, the seconds hand should stop, helping for a better readability.

Hi Savio.79,

This issue happens regardless of whether the backlight function is pressed. I have work the watch all day and mid afternoon the seconds hand just stopped moving completely. Also, I can synch the hands and the seconds hand won’t return to the correct position as per UTC and then if I go to re sun h again, the seconds hand and minute hands are out of position again.

Either I am a total idiot or something is very wrong with the watch.

Sorry for not being able to help.
In the meantime, maybe you can help me: can I ask you if you've ever had problems looking at the display with polarized sunglasses? thank you.

I did a quick test in doors (night time with house lights on) and found the digital display ever so slightly more difficult to read with out the backlight. Turning the backlight on and it’s easy to read. I suspect outside in sunlight will be even easier to see.

Hi all. I purchased my Marstimer about 6 weeks ago and have also not had any issues as described by OP.

Hope your bad luck was sorted out too. Greetings from my X-33 Family. I own the Marstimer now for 3 weeks, luckily without any problems. I love the improvements compared to the older Models.

What is the attraction of this watch vs omega other anakig/digital watch?

I can't speak for others. But compared to my 1st Gen the advantages are the lumed bezel - which otherwise only the Solar Impulse has - and 3 Alarms and PETs instead of only 1 one of them. Also the negative LCD backlight display is a total difference in design. The rust-red "mars-coloured" bezel adds a nice touch of colour to my collection.

But everyone has to fall for it by himself, but there are various reasons to do so....😀

For me, it’s the perfect feel and form factor of a speedy combined with incredible capabilities as an instrument.

Love the fact that the digital display can be switched off leaving a beautifully clean watch dial. Love the fact with a push of a few buttons I can set or utilise multiple time zones, alarms and dates. The compass is just showing off but hey, why not.

As for the x33 over the moon watch as an example, it too is a beautiful watch but its functionality isn’t enough for me as a daily watch. I simply don’t utilise chrono’s that much and want dates, alarms etc.

The x33 Marstimer is by no means perfect, why no solar for much longer battery and why for a watch that boasts incredible precision do I need to do that manually effectively meaning it’s only as accurate as I can manually set it.

Still, from the watches I have ranging from Rolex to Apple this one just seems to strike the right balance for me.
