New Marstimer X-33 issues?

I just came across this older post and had the same thing happen to my Marstimer. It turned out that the watch had become magnetized from the magnetometer at the local courthouse. I used the cheap Chinese made demagnetizer three times and it seems to have cured the problem. Sort of surprising that this could have happened, given the level of shielding in the marstimer but then again, Mars has no magnetic field [!].

What is the attraction of this watch vs omega other anakig/digital watch?
Cool factor.

It is almost guaranteed no one else has one wherever you go.

Plus...
I use my G3 multiple times a day during the week. Regularly scheduled POD meetings at 0630 (which I don't need an alarm for), and 1300, which I need an alarm for. Throughout the week there are many impromptu scheduled meetings which I can quickly set one of the alarms or PETs for. Once you know how to use the features, its a one minute task to set a future alarm (PET) or regular alarm. While I typically remember all meetings and arrive early, occasionally I get tied up and the reminder alarm gets me back on schedule...plus, cool factor is no small thing.

Update…unfortunately, the problem has returned and subsequent demagnetization has not helped. Will have to send it in.

I just got the Marstimer from Omega at Bellagio. The sales staff had no idea how to set it up, so I left the store with it and went to my hotel to read the manual. The GMT and times on the digital display were correct, but the hands were way off. After a lot of reading, I found the mode to set the hands correctly and it seemed fine. Last night, about 6 days later, the hands were about 30 minutes off. So, I set them again in the power saving mode to all line up at 12. This morning, the hands were way off again. I will take the watch back to the store tomorrow and hopefully have updates soon.

Exact same problem that I described above. Unfortunately, had to go to Omega and I don’t expect to get it back for months. My third Skywalker. The other two were flawless.

Just as an update. I emailed the Omega store at Bellagio and Joel, the manager, set me up with a replacement. I've only had it for two days but so far it's working well, and this one the bezel lines up and the hands hit their marks correctly. Hopefully the first one was just bad luck. Shoutout to Joel, Benjamin, and the cool security guy working at Bellagio Omega.

Did you get yours back yet? I'm assuming it went back to Switzerland.

I just received my Marstimer X-33. I have the gen 2 since 2005. The new Marstimer arrived with "bAT" showing at the 9 O'clock position. I presume the battery is fully dead (minus enough to power the "bAT" indication". The seller says he replaced the battery before he shipped it so this is an issue. If Omega says they have parts to fix it I'll keep it but if no reply or no mother board available it goes back to seller unfortunately.

They definitely have parts for this one. Would put a new battery in (easy to do if you have a fitting screwdriver and see what happens. Batteries can be bad from the package, has happened to me.

Thanks for the reply. I bought Bergeon finger condoms, a few Renata CR2030 batteries, a Bergeon watch blower, a Bergeon screwdriver rotating screwdriver kit and a 75mm watch pad also by Bergeon. When Im home Ill take my time to make sure I dont break any of the screws and remove the back case plate and replace the battery. If the functions return, Ill then ship it to Omega for the full service and keep the watch. Ive read that the screws can break off at the head which would be very bad. Omega is slow to respond and wont tell me which parts they are having trouble getting. Its very frustrating due to no communication from them about this. If they told me they have all the parts to fix anything it would be an easy decision but I cant get responses to emails so Im left on my own to decide what to do. Thanks.

Not sure whom you’re talking to but they definitely have parts for all generations of the X33. I have a Gen 1, Skywalker and Marstimer myself, never had a problem with changing the batteries. Used to have Omega do that but they change the movement with associated cost on service - I now just change batteries myself and wait for a movement to fail to give it to them (which hasn’t happened so far).

Well, I thought I mentioned that Im talking to Omega service. I was a Navy pilot and I ran a military order for the 2nd gen watch for 12 pilots in 2005 and that is contract service with Omega so I talk to that rep in NJ.

Good thing, what did you fly?
"Service" can mean a lot of things from the mothership to an AD. They are usually pretty responsive here in UK via the OBs. If you're talking to the rep who sold you the 12 watches he may not be that interested after all, maybe ask for direct contact to the workshop. Let's see what a new battery does for you, really need to check mine as they mostly live in the safe 😀.

The rep is the service manager for Omega in the USA/for the NJ service center at least. I bought the 12 watches from Swatchgroup, USA, and dealt with Swatchgroup management for that. I didnt buy from a boutique. The watches were shipped to me and I distributed them to
the instructors who bought them. So she is the service center manager with whom Ive been dealing since 2005 for my 2nd gen.

Forgot to add above: If you ship the watch to Omega for service anyway post battery change you can just send it out right away, as a movement change is part of the service. Doesn't matter therefore if your battery change is successful.
Would change the battery and watch what happens afterwards myself and save the service cost. Have a look if there is any contamination in the battery well - that may deplete the battery faster. Mine generally last two and a bit years until I get the five seconds jump, usually after using the backlight.

Well no offense but that's just being cheap with a 7k watch. I shipped it off to Omega service because they know how to check the movement for power draws. Just "lookign for contamination" is not a thorough testing procedure by anyones standards. Luckily, Omega got back to me this morning and the 5622 is fine. The battery was a cheap Chinese 130mAh battery and was the reason for the "bAT" indication. Hopefully they used the Renata 2320 and it will be good to go and I'll have peace of mind when it comes back to me.

How did I do that.. you recommended replacing the battery and looking for contamination. I said that wasn't good enough. 🤔
