Your grandfather had good taste! My grandfather had terrible taste and was a tacky and flashy dude from the soviet union. He left behind a black Mercedes with custom fur seats 馃憥, and a very flashy Daytona that I would never wear, other than to take this picture of it on my wrist......

Great heirloom, keep them both if you can but if you must sell, then you have come to the right place...you will have plenty of suiters here (if they haven't already PM'd you!)

Best of luck and do wear them for the time being and think of grandpa, he done you right!

Glad to see you got them opened and posted on here, @newomegaguy. I'm sure someone will give a constructive breakdown of what's right with them and what would benefit from being corrected soon enough.

Very lucky guy! Those are two nice watches. For me, the 2998-3 is the one to keep, though as others have said, if you can, keep them both a while longer.

The -3 would look so much better with the alpha hands. If you care to, stick around and start hunting for the correct hands. They can be found.

As far as rating is concerned, I call the -3 somewhere between running and good with some demerit for the wrong hands. As such, somewhere between $15K-$20K.

The 105.003 is bit less nice, only because the lume plots on the dial have faded or degraded. It's still a desirable watch, and could easily do $7K-$10K.

First thing, don't change anything about them. Learn more before making any decisions. If you are going to sell, leave them exactly as they are. If you are going to wear, you probably should get them serviced, but movement only. Don't change the visible parts.

If you share your location, we may be able to point you at a good watch maker that will Do The Right Thing.

Congrats, and enjoy!

Edit, here's one of mine, a 2998-61. See those hands? That's what you want on the -3

Tacky & flashy all gold and diamonds? That's some Joizey wise guy stuff right there! Send it my way. I'll keep it right next to the aluminum bats. 馃槣

Surprised this hasn't been said yet. But DO NOT send either of them to Omega. Omega unfortunately will replace parts with non original parts, and will do. many other things (polishing, redial, new bezel etc) and that will destroy a large portion of their value.

If you are planning on wearing either I would suggest to have them serviced (before even winding them up again). The lubricants could have dried up and the watches could be damaged by running them. A competent watch maker can be suggested here if you need one.

All in all, awesome heirlooms and awesome watches. If I were you I would get them serviced, wear them(carefully) and just watch the values rise

I beleive the bracelet is not a 7912, but some kind of 1175, so the OP only has the very desirable n掳6 end pieces and the value comes down to 2K$ because they really look tight.
Nice watches, nice grandfather ! Listen to what has been told to you and take your time.

Look on the bright side: at least you now have one prerequisite for a rap career.

In all seriousness, I'm not gonna lie: having been born deep beyond the Iron Curtain, I kind of dig that. You know what they say, you can take the boy out of the Communist Bloc, but how do you take the Communist Bloc out of the boy?

To OP: That's some amazing inheritance... Enjoy it! I wish I had something to inherit, but unfortunately see above under "Iron Curtain".

Merry Christmas everyone!

Well which do you want to keep? Do you see yourself being intereted in them and wearing one regularly? If so, keep the 2998, get it serviced by a reputable independent (we can help with that) and keep an eye out for correct hands.

However, if its more important to free up funds and you only want to keep one because you think you should, but might rarely wear it, sell the 2998.

Regarding value, I personally don't see the 105.005 above around $6-7k max. The bezel is original but poor, the case looks pretty worn and the dial has not aged that well with tired looking plots. It is however original and sought after. Id say more like $6k max, but collectors love one owner watches so it may get towards $7k.

The 2998 is much better. The case is sharper, the bezel much better, the dial while not having a faded brown appearance, looks original, correct and is in very good condition. This is the real find out of the two and only the incorrect hands will cause a real issue. I'dput the vue around $12-14k.

If I were in this situation, I'd be putting the 105.003 in a no reserved ebay auction around Feb/March time, keeping the 2998 as a heirloom.

Actually, if we're talking about what I'd do, I'd be keeping both!

You're right, it's an 1175. But endlinks at least looks like they haven't been adjusted to fit the wider middle links of the 1175.

Sell both, if you like speedmasters buy a new one and a Porsche. A vintage speed master is only worth huge sums to a few people who will notice the differences. All depends on if they have huge sentimental value !

Don't change out the bezel, I think you should keep both pieces "as is". If you don't need the money, keep them. It's pretty cool to have your grandparent's collection.
