I honestly can't believe how far we've come in the world of after-market Speedmaster bracelets. Used to be as recent as 4 years ago your only option was a $400 1125 from Omega.

Fast forward to today, and people are mad about .3mm changes to taper and thickness.

I used to refresh the uncle seiko thread every day waiting for that first flat link to come out. Couldn't wait to get the FOIS on a bracelet! Now we're spoiled for choice. It's great!

So, further to the new milled clasp I fitted to the US1479, the fully brushed contemporary flat link arrived. I like it a lot.

Looks awesome. Has anyone tried this (contemporary bracelet) on the Seamaster Diver 42mm?

I know others who have swapped an omega clasp cover onto a forstner without an issue, or so they say.

You can’t do it. The Uncle Seiko/Omega and Forstner clasps use completely different mechanisms to secure them closed. It simply doesn’t work.

I think they are referring to the traditional stamped clasps. You can easily source a 16mm clasp cover with an omega logo on it and it will fit just fine.

I am curious to know if any OEM Omega milled clasps fit these after-market bracelets. The only thing connecting the Forstner/US clasp to the bracelet is a piece of folded steel and a 16mm pin sleeve so I'm betting Omega has at least one in their catalog that works.

Really loving my Contemporary Flatlink with my 3861 - just hoping for some kind of easy adjust clasp to come down the road. With the new Chronoscope clasp, I'm hoping Forstner/Uncle Seiko look at a version of that mechanism for the next step for their bracelets - would make them that much more perfect for everyday wear!

I won't post Private messages but I was in touch with someone who was asking questions and they showed me that an omega stamped clasp cover worked with a forstner flatlink by just changing the cover and keeping everything else. If you google it the reports conflict each other... Some say it works, some say it won't.

I've already stated that there's conflicting reports on this but you cut that part of my quote out. I stated that as a disclaimer because I've never done it but like I said I've seen pics of it done and the owner claims it works 100% as if it weren't modded at all.

the full quote is very clear that I'm talking about a stamped clasp and not a milled clasp but that part of the comment wasn't quoted haha.

I asked Forstner if an OEM Omega branded milled clasp would work on the 1450. This is Forstner's reply:

"I’m actually not sure if the OEM Omega milled clasps will work. The key is that the front part connecting the bracelet to the clasp should accept a 10mm link, and the back end of the clasp with micro adjustment holes should accept a 16mm bracelet."

I was in touch with someone who was asking questions and they showed me that an omega stamped clasp cover worked with a forstner...

I was able to successfully install an Omega 1162/173 stamped clamshell clasp on a Forstner 1450. The look was seamless.

The quality between the Omega and Forstner clasps were virtually identical. But the Omega interior folding deployment was polished. Both the Forstner and Omega logos were laser engraved.

The clamshell clasp gives the 1450 a vintage look. But I'm thinking the milled clasp would be more satisfying than clamshell. Sometimes when you push a clamshell clasp closed, the corners of the clasp dig into your wrist. Milled is usually much more comfortable from a closure standpoint.

I'm not sure if there is an Omega milled clasp that would work. But Forstner's required dimensions for a milled clasp are post in my prior post above.

I experimented with swapping the clasp cover vs the whole clasp. Either way works. The clasp covers are slightly different dimensions, so I got a slightly better fit by swapping in the full Omega clasp (vs the clasp cover only).
