Actually, the modern high-end Patek market (read: several hundred thousand dollars and up) is pretty dead, you can't give these watches away. Outside of the Nautilus and Aquanaut, Patek isn't doing well on the modern secondary market. Same goes with AP, the Royal Oak is the only thing truly selling for over list, with everything else highly discounted, especially the abysmal failure that is the Code 11.59.

Never understood the why behind this. I don't think they're bad looking at all. Was it the price?

What do you think watch dealers are doing? There's an entire gray market based on investing in watches. Although, I will admit that it's mostly vintage watches.
I think we are talking two different things. Certainly there are dealer networks, grey markets and 1001 one people on steel Rolex waiting list just to flip.
However no ones buying this Omega Tourbillion or 90% of other 100k+ watches to flip. Yet there is a market for them for people who are buying for their wrist.

Disagree completely, ie most high end Omega buyers wear them on their wrist.
YouTube and forums may have you thinking this but most people I know with 100k plus watches wear them on their wrist without a thought of resell/investment.

I would imagine if you can afford a 100k watch, it isn’t going to be your main investment vehicle!

They aren't good looking to most people's eyes plus they are expensive for what they are plus you can only get them at AP Boutiques at full price. It was a disaster from day one.

If you are splitting up modern and vintage, then yes, we are talking about two different gray markets.

Not this particular watch no, but modern dealers have bought high-end Pateks (and other brands) to flip and now they can't flip them as prices are super soft.

I like it - not something that fits in my collection or style, but I am glad to see Omega doing something interesting. Been a bit.

I’m glad they make it, I think many Omega fans appreciate they do.
I also think it’s a way better watch then most commanding several times it’s price.

£134,780.00 😲

Hey for that price you get the Omega watch, plus a spare bezel for a ladies Rolex is included on the dial!

Cool!

It is a stunning watch. I find it quite appealing. I don’t think I will be buying one anytime soon but if someone here does I will live vicariously through them.

Omega will sell a few of these watches each year, there are buyers out there with the funds and desire to purchase one. You'd be surprised at how many people with little knowledge of watches will buy a watch like this because they like the 'whirling thingy' in the center. Watches like this are not flipping items, they are bought and worn a few times by a serious collector, or sometimes a non-collector.

Would be interested to know who did the design and construction work on this watch, Blancpain, Breguet, Glashutte Original or some other outside hired gun. It's not the kind of technology or skill set Omega would have in-house. Looking at the back it has a kind of Breguet feel to it in the way things are laid out.

FP Journe are over 200K but I know it’s probably not a fair comparison

The Omega looks to be a higher end piece in design, function and finishing. I had a 43mm platinum JLC Master Tourbillon, nice watch but I never felt it was super high end watch in the finishing area. And performance was so-so. I don't think the Omega price at $168,000 is out of line with what you are getting in the normal tourby world.
